My mother-in-law wanted a nice lawn chair, so we got her one.
My mom refuses to take any gifts from me...she wants me to save my money so I can fly out to visit her.
I live in Oklahoma, she lives in California.

I tried calling my Mom...sent her a card.  Left her a voice mail.  Haven't heard back from her so I hope she's ok.  My kids all gave me a little something.  Magnet for the fridge, hand cream...hubby bought me some new cake decorating tips and some marigold seeds.  We cooked out early and had my mother-in-law over...took an afternoon nap and my kids were returned to me a couple hours earlier so I was able to spend some time with them out at the firepit.  I wish I could redo the day as it was lovely.

I got my wife some pretty flowers. Then we dined out. It was a wonderful mother's day gift. She enjoyed it.

The biggest problem with getting anything for my family is that no one really wants anything anymore.  My dad may ask for a book or DVD, but that's about it and there is really nothing else that he does that we could get for him.  My mom is the same way so I've resorted just to asking what they want or if there is something they'd like to get.

I don't have much money, so I gave her a book on Missions by Gospel for Asia, a DVD by TCT Ministries and a Google Mother's Day card. On Mother's Day Google had an interactive doodle that had you make a your own mother's day card that you could print out. It looked like a child's card with macaroni and such. I thought it was a unique idea by Google. My mother likes missions so she really liked the book.

I always give my mother a Wal-Mart gift card.  She lives in Alabama and I live in North Carolina.  It is easier to send the card in the mail.  That way she can buy what she wants and I won't give her something that she can't use or doesn't want.
