Smack his fingers? lol.  Never heard it said like that.  Smack his hand - yes!  Pop him on the butt with your hand and tell him NO.  Eventually he will get the message.

well first I would suggest to baby proof I have a grand baby that I have to baby proof for and I never had to do that for any other grand baby or any of my kids

Tapping them on the fingers does not work. But you also can't pop his buttom inless the mom has said you can. Alot of parents don't want any one else to disapline by hitting. Try time out and see if that works. My youngest nephew turns 3 this week and my brother and sister in law let him and his brother who is 4 1/2 do what ever they want. They have even gone to my moms and pulled all of the clothing off the hangers in the spare closet where my mom keeps her out of season stuff. It seems that the only person any of their five kids will really listen to is my husband. But then again my sister in law does not like it when we try to disipline them when they are in our presence at my moms house or even at mine.

yes i have done daycare for years spanking is out but timeout doesnt work just keep repaeting myself no no and getting him back down
