we just moved and we have steps to go up,so im hoping that helps me with my exercise..i have bad knees and there is not too many steps but enough that my knees can tell.but i continue on anyway.hoping it will build up my knees so i can do more.i always eat out of a small plate and never do seconds.i do have a weight problem, but my thyroid was really out of whack..it is just now getting back to the correct numbers so i am hoping to see some changes..i haven't had any sodas in about 9 months. i drink water and tea.mostly water

I constantly mix it up so I don't get bored. Right now I'm mostly doing exercise videos and go to a personal trainer led bootcamp once a week. Once it's warmer and not dark as early I'll go back to walk/jogging, cycling and all types of outdoor activity

It's all about finding what you actually enjoy. I hate being inside just on the treadmill or other equipment so I don't do it and if I forced myself I wouldn't have any motivation to exercise

I try to walk and/or walk a little faster than normal for exercise about two or three times a week. It's relaxing, reduces stress and good for overall health.

Ok, I can't say it's working cause I just started it, but we shall find out.

Ok, find out what you Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is.  That is basically the amount of calories you burn just by being alive.  I typed "bmr calculator" into google and the first result was what I used.  That number is used in conjunction with this thing called the Harris Benedict Formula.  You basically multiply your BMR by a number that depends on your currently activity level.  That should give you an approximate number of calories you need to maintain your current weight.

With that in mind, if you were to eat less than the number above, you should begin to lose weight.  If you are like me and have been doing pretty much nothing up until now, that means even the smallest amount of exercise will help you lose weight just a little bit faster.

From what my friend has said, just knowing her BMR helped her a lot in figuring out a good calorie intake daily without needing to cut out all her favorite foods.  Combine it with MyFitnessPal or something to help determine calories per meal and you may not need a ton of exercise.

For exercise, I've been alternating between doing Wii Fit, Just Dance, and walking on a treadmill for about 30 minutes a day.  I've read it should be more like 45 minutes because it's apparently 30 mintues to maintain weight but 40+ to lose, but I figure it's something so I'll work on increasing it from there.

Depending on where you live, you could try biking to work or something instead of taking time out to exercise.  If it's something that's stuck in your day instead of needing to be fitted into your day, you'll see results quicker.  I used to walk up the flight of stairs to get to my one class every Monday and Thursday and my tights were in shape by the end of the semester.  I've let the go since then, but if there was something like that I could fit into my day now, it would make things a lot easier instead of reminding myself to do this.

Although it may be tougher to get motivated and sometimes harder if you have family around, you can exercise at home just a well as at a gym.  Try dance and some basic floor exercises to get into the habit.  After you have done it every day for 3 weeks, you will crave it.
