why is it that take all the good shows off

I don't watch much TV at all anymore for just that reason. Instead we watch old series TV programs that are on DVD. It's much more entertaining.

I understand that networks need a way to assure their advertisers that their programs pull in enough viewership for people to see their ads, but really the rating system is very outdated. It does not provide a clear picture of how many people watch a show live and hasn't for some time.

The shows that they keep are based on how much the nation watches them.  Some of them are not even good.  I understand how you feel.  The shows from the 1960's and 1970's were great.  I watch some of the reality shows, but they could put something on that makes it interesting.

To be honest, the MAIN selling point for tv genres are either comedy, romance, and drama....Drama is the most biggest since people love to consume it (it's funny since a avg american household has more drama then a tv show), but love to watch it happen to other people... Romance is romance... Comedy is a mix, since you can only get so far with all the jokes out there

TV  is  a  big   waist  of  both  time and money.  You  are  paying  for  60  channels  that show the  same thing.  I  buy   the  older  tv shows  from  the  1st  seson  to the finale.

I've wondered that for years!  I guess the good actors get tired of doing the same thing for a long time.  I really miss some of the shows that I use to watch.  I just don't care for all of the reality shows that have overtaken our TV airwaves.

It seems just as soon as i get into a good show it is taken off the air.  I do like some of the reality shows

When a show is put on, the ratings game determines whether the show stays on or goes off.  I have seen shows be on because of high ratings (based on how many people watch the show), and I have seen them go off the air because of low ratings (which is determined by poor ratings).  I try to catch all shows I watch during the fall, because at this time of year, the reruns game occurs.

that's one of the reasons i seldom even watch tv other than the news.  its so hard to find anything that isnt mind numbing anymore, its no wonder kids have small attention spans!
