I use coconut oil on the ends of my hair, along with a leave-in conditioner. I put the conditioner on first and then I use the oil to seal the ends. My hair is very dry, and this helps it a lot.

I heard about it. Some people say it is good for the hair and also for the skin.

A friend recommended it recently but I've never tried it before.

I use it once in a while on my hair. It definitely does the job but my hair has always been more on the greasy side so I have to watch it. I mostly eat it and cook with it I'm using castor oil right now to help grow my hair out and that's working really well.

I have heard great things about coconut oil. It can be used for many things. I also like tea tree oil (not for my hair though) and use it for lots of skin related things.

@nmbrown863, how do you use tea tree oil?  Do you just rub a little of it on your skin? Or is it a capsule supplement?

I've never heard of anyone taking it internally so I have no idea if it actually comes in capsules. You can get a little bottle at the store and use it on your face. However if you're trying it for the first time dilute it with something before putting it on your face. It can burn and itch. Aloe vera gel would be good with that. You can use it in your hair too, it's supposed to help with dandruff. Just put a few drops in your shampoo.

I have heard of its benefits both externally and internally, but it can be pricey! I've been most interested to try it in smoothies, but you have to mix it just right for it to all blend well, apparently. For anyone that uses it as a skin moisturizer, is the consistency very oil? That drives me mad!  :-X

I can only speak about my personal experience with coconut oil. I love coconut oil. I use it as a makeup remover, a moisturizer for skin and hair. Coconut oil  has also whitened my teeth with regular use. I never need to purchase whitening strips. I was watching this one health program about the benefits of coconut oil and they mentioned that coconut oil can also grow your eyelashes. I did not believe it at the time, however after two months of personally trying it my eyelashes are super healthy and are definitely longer!!! You can also eat coconut oil and cook with it as well. The health benefits are amazing. It also comes in pill form. I purchase the Kirkland coconut oil brand from Costco.

Wow! Whitens teeth and grows eyelashes? Is there a particular method for teeth whitening? And for eyelashes? I  wonder if that also means it helps grow hair...?

haimsterette, For whitening your teeth with coconut oil, you can take a Tablespoon of coconut oil and swish it around in your mouth for 5 to 10 minutes after brushing your teeth with toothpaste everyday, however I got grossed out by doing it that way. I found for me, it is better to just put a small amount on the end of my tooth brush everyday, after brushing  my teeth and brush my teeth with the coconut oil. As far as growing my eyelashes, after taking my makeup off at night I use a Q-tip and a very small amount of coconut oil and apply a very thin layer over my top eye lid close to my eyelashes. I'm not sure if  coconut oil will grow hair on your head, but it is a great weekly deep conditioner! At least in my case.
