Annoying Shades in a Home You Have Rented

While renting an apartment or house, did you have trouble with shades? If so, what did you do about them?

If maintenance (or probably owner in your case) can't fix or replace the shades... just change them yourself.

Unless it was differently specified when you moved in, you can do pretty much whatever you want to the place you live in... as long as you leave it in the same conditions once you move out obviously.
