Migraine without Headache?
« on: October 28, 2016, 06:25:20 am »
Hi everyone -- my husband just spent 3 days in the hospital after having dizzy spells and nausea on Sunday.  The best the neurologist could tell me is that he thinks he is having migraines without the headache.  I've never heard of that.  Has anyone?

I think that I may have experienced this before. If they ruled out more serious causes, it sounds likely to me. They are triggered by the same things that migraines are, so if it happens again follow migraines protocols.

Migraine

Migraine is a primary headache disorder characterized by recurrent headaches that are moderate to severe. Typically, the headaches affect one half of the head, are pulsating in nature, and last from two to 72 hours. Associated symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light, sound, or smell. The pain is generally made worse by physical activity. Up to one-third of people have an aura: typically a short period of visual disturbance which signals that the headache will soon occur. Occasionally, an aura can occur with little or no headache following it.

My brother gets Migraines without the headache.  His vision just starts flashing and he feels woozy, but never gets a headache.  Me on the other hand, get the migraine vision and soon after, the headaches which could be whoppers.  Best thing I found to do when I get the vision is to take a couple of Aleve before the headache hits.  It works, I won't get the headache if I do that.

I've gotten symptoms but I don't consider it a migraine because I don't have the headache. Here I was thinking my migraines were finally decreasing and they could just be manifesting themselves into a different form.
