I like background music/white noise as I cannot stand silence. I have to sleep with a fan on year round as I cannot sleep in silence.

I like background noise for the most part, not loud though.  Since I live alone I can only stand the silence for so long.  Sometimes I welcome the silence when I been out and about or been somewhere which has had a lot going on.  However, after awhile being alone, I have to turn on either music or the TV.  More often than not, it is the TV.

I enjoy listening to audiobooks. As far as I know, they only play music in the opening and ending of the audio. For businesses, elevator, jazz or pop music can be heard whenever I am placed on hold for the next available customer service representative. Stores like Kmart used to play easy listening instrumental music back in their day. Nowadays, I don’t like some of the choice of music played where I shop at a store or supermarket. They are loud and unsoothing.

I like it too, sometimes they have some nice music... other times their music makes me even more angry or anxious than before... depends on the establishment :D

I don't mind as long as it's calm and  not distracting.

Background music is genius. I love listening to it and especially if i'm in an awkward situation, it makes things a little better. It's pretty cool how it can change from a weird situation into a less weird situation just all because of music.

For the most part, it's always something to do with the company.  The elevator music is passe'.
