Self Help books
« on: December 24, 2017, 04:27:39 pm »
Has anyone come across a good self help book that is worth reading?

I would want the book to be able to be either a hard or soft cover something that I could physically hold.

I don't want to download it.

thanks

I like "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne
There are many other resources that goes along with this book. It is worth the time and the effort.

You could also try, The Untethered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself by Michael A. Singer

I don't know if these in particular are what you're looking for, but there's two books I got around the beginning of 2015 that have been of use to me. They are "100 Ways to Happiness" by Dr. Timothy J. Sharp, and "5 Good Minutes: 100 Morning Practices to Help You Stay Calm and Focused All Day Long." The latter I never read as much as I did the former. Hope that helps in some way, too!  :) :star: :rainbow: :clover:

What kind of help do you need? Money, weight loss, cleaning, career, finding your soul mate.... etc.?

I have read one or two that are decent, but most are just annoying, filled with grammatical errors, and make me want to jump off a bridge.

Just kidding. But there are good words of advice, but you can usually tell if the author is honest, trying to help, or trying to make a buck.

life in general. don't really need a soul mate. I have a pain in the *bleep*.

books with DBT topics would be really good.

Just trying to find my way through this world one day at a time.

I haven't read this book in quite some time so I can't really supply details about it anymore but I remember liking "When Bad Things Happen To Good People" by Harold S. Kushner. It does have a religious side to it and I am not particularly religious but I still liked how it made me think about things.  Some of the chapters are titled, "Sometimes There Is No Reason," "no Exceptions for Nice People," and "What Good Then Is Religion?" I don't think you need to be religious to read this and get food for thought.
