United Airlines Steps Up this time
« on: June 09, 2018, 08:23:00 pm »
My sister just called me to let me that her grand daughter fell at O'hare airport today and hit a concrete structural pole and split her head open.  Ava is 2 and needed 12 stitches.  The airport immediately called for a ambulance and took them to hospital and while they were in waiting room United Airlines called them to check on her and asked when they could re -book their flight free of charge. Luckily the doctor convinced my nephew and niece that all was well and they should take the vacation because they were going to cancel. When I called to check on her Ava told me that they are holding the plane for her to go on vacation tomorrow.  So happy all is well.

Poor little girl.  Everywhere we look there is a liability waiting to happen.

Since a bad fall two years ago because of a misalignment in sidewalk "squares", my son has instructed me to always look down when walking.

   Very sad!
But accidents happen every day...any place.
Prevention and avoidance of dangerous situations

so glad the little girl is fine.  It's nice to see a company that seems to care about it's customers instead of just treating them like a number or a dollar $ .

With all the sad news and scandals with Airlines these days, it's no wonder they would go the extra mile to make customers feel happy.  They could use some good publicity.  I'm glad everything worked out for your sister's granddaughter and her family.  It was great of the airline to call and check on her.  And that they were able to keep their vacation without hassle or your family having to sue them for damages (which now-a-days people sue over the most ridiculous things!)

Do you even know what "split her head open" means? This statement would mean her skull was literally busted open which would require more than 12 stitches.

Most businesses will call an ambulance and pay for medical treatment if a person is hurt on their property. They really don't have a choice and they pay insurance for these purposes.

I'm glad everything turned out okay! Ava will be hearing the story about this when she's older, I'm sure.
