Apartments

We are staying in our home because the payment is less than most rent.  It is 5 bedrooms, so we have
rented out 2 of them.  We have a very nice home with pool, great lawns and patio area besides great indoor living spaces.

I'm not sure, to be honest:  it's been decades since I had to look for an apartment. I do know they did a credit check, and wanted the first and last month's rent as a deposit.

Yes, it is like that where  I live and it sucks. Most people who live in apartments do not make three times the rent because if they did, they probably would just own their own home. Where I live, most of them also want you to pay first, last and security just to move in.
