I have no problems with medical marijuana. I wish it would pass here in Georgia.

Never tried it and no desire to start now.   I guess if my doctor recommended it for reason I would have to seriously think about.

I say it is worse if for no other reason, it is illegal.  And I feel bad for all of the people on hear saying that marijuana is good for medical issues.  It's truly sad to me that people believe this and I only wish that people would do their own research when it comes to health instead of listening to such nonsense.

I feel like Alcohol is worse than marijuana. If  marijuana helps someone chill out with anxiety, or seizures why not use it. When people drink they act like manics, drive drunk, fight, and get arrested. With marijuana, you smoke it to relax or to help with various medical conditions. Being a mom and smoking isn't a good idea because for one it's illegal and most states and you have to put energy into your children and focus .

If they're adults and it's legal in their state, it's their choice if they want take that stuff, but as long as they don't take that stuff around kids.

Personally I believe it is a bad idea. For those who say, but it's not illegal in my state/area; I say - just because something isn't illegal, that doesn't make it right. What if an emergency with her kids happens when mom is high? Sure she can call 9-1-1, but if her high hinders her from giving assistance to her kids and something bad results, she should be in a heap of trouble. (I say should but unfortunately that is not always the way it works out)...

Different drug, but a few years ago in late December in this area a mom who had been drinking and taking cocaine got into a fight with her boyfriend. She decided to leave but first had a friend who had also been drinking come over. This was at her parents' house who lived very close to a riverbank.  Mom puts her two kids into her friend's car because she had a car seat. After the kids were strapped in, mom for whatever reason decides that she is going to drive herself separately in her own car. Drunk friend then backs out of the driveway, across the dirt road, and over the retaining wall into the river.

Long story short, drunk friend is able to get out of the car, seven year old daughter is able to be rescued; four year old son strapped into a car seat drowns.

Drunk friend is now in prison for a very long time. Somehow, mom is not (and blames drunk friend for her son's death). But it was her stupida$$ decision to put her own kids into the care of a drunk driver. Had she not been impaired herself, she might have had a clue that the friend was in no condition to drive either. The two kids were 100% innocent victims in all of this and did not deserve to be children of this selfish idiotic imbecile.

Some would say that my story doesn't apply to the topic at hand because this mom was high on cocaine rather than marijuana. So in anticipation of that I ask if there is really a difference.  Impaired is impaired regardless of the severity or source.

I don't think that parents should smoke with their kids or in front of their kids.  I think this should be a personal decision because my grandson smokes in the house and I have to smell it and I don't like it at all.

If marijuana, or Xanax are prescribed - ok.  BUT now as a social thing with other girlfriends.  These are medications and to be taken seriously.  Wine is a social drink, but yes - only if you aren't going to be driving!  And I do't think it is a good idea to drink in front of the kids.  :-[

I don't see a problem with it since it will one day become legal in all states. Marijuana is the least of anyone's problem. I do not smoke the plant myself but I use to over 23 yrs ago and when I retire well that's another story .. lol

It's a drug.  The problem is the users that get mentally hooked.  Just like alcohol.  And they absolutely should not drive for HOURS after.  I have an rx for it due to chronic severe pain, and I can't stand the way I feel.  I quit taking it.  It worked on the pain, but it scrambled my brain.

I'm going against the flow here again. I see most people on FC are all in for drug use. My take is that marijuana impairs your judgment and so does alcohol. Marijuana can be a gateway drug if you have an addictive personality and alcohol is its own poison. Check out what it does to your body when you drink too much. No, really. Check it out.

Getting together to smoke joints is not my idea of good mothering. Never mind the example it sets. I don't understand why people purposely want to addle their brain. I need mine to be functioning well to get along in life. Maybe this is why people are leaving their children in hot cars while they run errands and such. Perhaps their thinking has been clouded by some sort of substance abuse.

Sure alcohol and marijuana make you kind of numb, but why is that something to attain in life. I'd much rather feel things, even if it is painful. Feeling nothing is a nothing life. And neither of those things can bring you happiness; only momentary elation.

Lecture over. Have a nice day.
