MAC vs PC

The only thing Mac really has on PC is video/photo editing and Garage Band.  One could argue it's more user friendly to computer illiterate people, but that will be changing in the near future as more and more people purchase Mac.  There was a contest held not too long ago to determine who could make a Mac virus the fastest -- it took the guy under 10 minutes to gain full access to the computer and all it took was a single click of a link in an email, no different from a PC.

There is nothing inherently superior about the Mac OS, it is simply something no hacker/virus creator is going to waste time on.  If you could make a virus that would effect hundreds of millions of people and thousands of corporations around the world (Windows) vs a virus that will probably effect less than a million people (Mac), which would you choose?  This will change as Macs become more popular.

Regardless, PCs only slow down or just crash out of the blue for people who, frankly, don't know what in the world they're doing.  Don't download endless amounts of suspicious things, don't go to sites that have obvious adware and spyware, learn to manage your PC (it really takes minimal effort), etc.  Personal computers don't do a single thing you don't tell them to do; the user controls the experience.

I have a Mac since I do design work but other than that I still use my PC.

Whatever you do, don't get a Dell inspiron laptop...LOL!! I spent $1200 on my laptop. It sucks & has crashed at least 10 times in 2 years.

I wish I had money for a new one.

Funny you should say that. That is what I have. A dell inspiron 8600, quite nice 5 years ago .... only had problems with it once and was able to restore it, but it is getting slower...

Either one is good for me, although, for some things that I like to do I need to have a PC, which is actually for the computer games that I have installed in my computer, which are PC-only games.

pc is easy when it comes to upgrading and such but they do get viruses easily..

mac doesn't get any.. as i was told but not so sure about that

Yes, that is very true. You can upgrade PCs very easily, but for MACs, you need to buy a new one in order to upgrade it.
I actually watch a video on youtube about that.

Had a mac, and needless to say it broke as every Mac product does, ipod also broke = (
in my opinion its garbage, and PC is king, has been and always will be, PC!

It's "true," but it really has nothing to do with the Mac OS itself.  There are plenty of security holes in the Mac OS just as there are in Windows.  There are a couple differences though: 

1.  Apple almost always keeps their security holes under wraps, where as Windows comes right out and says "we have a security hole and we're working on a patch."

2.  The overwhelming majority of corporations, businesses, and households use PCs.  If you were making a virus/worm, would you spend time making one that could potentially effect millions and millions of computers (PC) or would you make one that will effect only a fraction of that (Mac)?  You would make one that effects PCs, because it can wreak more havoc.  That is why you see very few viruses floating around for Mac, and Mac can make patches for the sporadic virus that does pop up, because they only have to worry about a small amount of attacks.

PC is definitely better than MAC. We have both in my house, PC computer, Mac laptop. The mac crashes CONSTANTLY. I haven't had any problems with my PC yet, and its been nearly a year since I got it.

I have had PC's ALL my life. Never once owned a Mac, though I have always been interested in having one. Recently my boyfriends mother bought one and I tested it out. It's really super nice! So smooth and sleek. BUT I've learned the downside to having a mac is that sometimes some jobs need you to use certain programs on your computer that will only work on a PC. Other than that, I dun think I could complain either way.

There isn't one. The reason is because while Windows' predecessor (DOS) was a command-line interface, thus enabling Microsoft to recycle it into Windows, Macintosh had no such forerunners. And I guess Apple won't create one.


Now, onto the actual debate. I have to finish this quick before my PC crashes on me again (if that's any indication of where I stand on this issue).
Note that when I say "PC," I'm really referring to Vista, since XP is actually pretty good and 7 doesn't look too shabby either. Macs have like 20 different OS-es that pretty much all look the same and do the same thing.

Macs and PC's both have their pros and cons.
Mac has more compatibility issues since PC's are more mainstream.
Macs are also more susceptible to virii (ha, Windows spellchecker got that wrong), but because of their limited use, it's unlikely that anyone's wasting their time virusing one when they could be wreaking havoc among millions of PCs instead. Versus PC's, which are constantly being attacked (and many times, beaten) by such things.
Macs have a more business feel, and PC's are for home use.
Macs have that "homemade" touch to them, since they and most of their components are created solely by Apple. PC's are cold, hard, soulless unfeeling evil machines that apparently only exist to intimidate people and irritate them to no end.
Macs are like 5 times faster than PC's and, although not really relevant, silvery sleek Macs look way more awesome than boring dull PCs.
Overall? Mac.
Why?
Because MAC'S don't get all pissed off at you, crash, burn, become a BFBVFS, and generally do EVERYTHING IN THEIR PROCESSOR CAPACITY to make you as mad as possible just for trying to get rid of the Internet Explorer. Oh yeah, that's another thing. Macs seem to welcome open-source software, and PC's seem to self-destruct when you shove their pre-installed "incomparable" components aside for something that's better.

And on top of that, mine seems to be developing sentience, since it seems to crash whenever I bad-mouth Microsoft.     

Although, outside of the Mac vs PC world, Linux beats out both since it kills as far as speed is concerned.
