My family and I are planning on going out to eat tonight. We haven't been in forever. We received gift cards for Christmas. I am excited, just to get out of the house for a bit and the food!  :)

Off-Topic / Considering switching to low fat cheese
« on: February 06, 2017, 07:32:50 am »Message ID: 1121629
I eat a lot of cheese in my diet, which is really fattening. I know a certain amount is healthy but I eat so much that I know it is unhealthy. I am considering trying to switch to low fat cheese. I've also been trying to cut back on the cheese overall. So many foods that I normally eat have cheese on or in them.

I switched to 1% milk awhile back.

You'd be surprised how much these things can make a difference.

It took awhile for me to notice changes, but I did.

Off-Topic / Healthy Foods
« on: February 06, 2017, 07:29:34 am »Message ID: 1121628
I have been trying to eat healthy. Successfully lost and kept off 30 lbs!

Over the holidays, I kind of let myself eat whatever. I also started to learn how to eat in portion controls, which helped a lot with keeping the weight off.

I had an idea, not sure if it would help anyone but here it goes:

We could all list healthy foods because it sometimes is hard to find new ideas for healthy foods!

I'll start:

Breakfast:

Healthy cereal or oatmeal
Fruit
Yogurt
Parfaits with low fat or non fat yogurt

Lunch:
Tuna Fish Sandwich
You could substitute chips for baked chips (healthier alternative)

Dinner:
Fish
Salad

I understand that everyone is different and some people might not consider the same foods healthy but thought it would be worthwhile, just to get the ideas going!

Off-Topic / Ideas for salads
« on: February 06, 2017, 07:22:30 am »Message ID: 1121626
I've really been enjoying salads lately but I am running out of new ideas to put into them. I use boiled eggs, vegetables, sometimes apples. I am a picky eater, so there are a lot of things I don't like.

Anything you really like to put into a salad?  ???

Off-Topic / Postings on Facebook

Do you post whatever you want? Do you ever think twice about posting? Do you almost post something then don't post it? Do you ever worry about how you appear?

Off-Topic / American Housewife show

I've started watching this show and I like a lot more than I thought I would. I can't really relate because I do not have a husband or kids. However, it's funnier and better than I thought it would be.

Off-Topic / I received an Amazon Fire TV
« on: January 02, 2017, 07:51:06 am »Message ID: 1114635
I got an Amazon Fire TV for Christmas. I love it. There are a lot of television apps that you can get on it. you can also get certain movie channels. Anyone else have one?

I got a free week trial of Showtime. I liked it more than I thought. I just signed up for Netflix.

This has really upgraded how I watch television and movies.

Before I get too excited and spend too much on entertainment, I am going back to work.  ;D Just a little joke but seriously I cannot spend but too much on entertainment.

Off-Topic / Jealousy of a friend
« on: December 13, 2016, 09:41:27 am »Message ID: 1110784
So I'm not a jealous person at all. However, I have always wanted to own my own home. A "dream house / home" as the saying goes. I've spend the last few years focusing on my career. A friend of mine just moved into a house. She has been bragging about it a little bit. She is with a man, and has three children. She lives in another state so we mainly only talk through email, facebook, and rarely on the phone. I know it is a lot easier to distance myself since she lives in another state. Sometimes it just doesn't feel right knowing that she accomplished this goal in life by being with a man than having a career. I know I sound cruel in this way.

Off-Topic / I need my license and a vehicle
« on: December 11, 2016, 04:48:47 pm »Message ID: 1110528
I'm turning 29 this January and its becoming a need to have my license and a vehicle. I'm not finished learning how to drive, and don't have the money for a vehicle. I have drove around the neighborhood, to a fast food joint close by, parking lots, back roads a tiny bit, and one time I hired a professional teacher for one hour. The professional teacher took me on the roads that are considered main but not much traffic. That was a very long time ago. The only person that ever took me driving to teach me was my sister. She told me that she can't teach me with her car because it is financed. When she took me in the past she had an older vehicle.

One of my main concerns is that I will have to take the actual course to drive. I would really rather not so that I could save money in this whole process, and it makes me even more nervous about driving. I know I shouldn't be this nervous but I really am. I can't afford to hire a professional teacher because it cost me $60 for one hour and that was years ago so I'm sure the price has went up as well.

My plan for saving for a car is to just start saving and when I find a good way to save then stick to it. Even if I am only saving $10 or $20 out of paychecks, it is better than nothing. I am just looking for a used vehicle, not a new car or anything like that.

Realistically with my income it is going to be difficult to save for a car. However, I can't keep using that as an excuse. I've applied for better income jobs and I'm just not getting any as of right now. So I am going to start saving and even if it takes me awhile, it's a good start. For the past year I haven't been focusing on this, and recently I tried to start saving but things just keep coming up and there are other things I was putting before this but last year I knew that I should focus on it and now.... a year later... I am in the same spot. So it really is time for a change!

Any suggestions?  This is really becoming difficult to deal with on a daily basis with having to always ask for a ride, to the grocery store, to anywhere! Also, it's almost impossible to date and I'm stuck with working at home at the current moment. As much as I enjoy working at home, I also know I could make more income if I worked outside the home.
