Off-Topic / My chocolate milk rant
« on: December 05, 2011, 06:45:05 am »Message ID: 456671
I know lots of food and drink companies are trying to do the whole "healthy" thing, but when you destroy my chocolate milk, you've gone too far!

I grew up in TN, where they have the Purity Dairies; so I got to enjoy Whole Chocolate milk.  I don't like any chocolate milk but the whole variety.  When I moved to OH, I found an acceptable substitute in Dean's whole chocolate milk.  It wasn't as good, but it did the job.  But now, Dean's does that TruMoo crap, and even whole chocolate milk tastes like cheap "flavored chocolate drink"!

I drank the chocolate milk when I wanted to drink it because it tasted good; not for it's health value.  It would take me two weeks to go through a half-gallon, so it's not like I was guzzling down the stuff either.  It was a treat, like soda.  Any other time it's normally water, white milk (2 %) or juice (mmmmmmm Simply Orange).

Companies, stop making all your stuff healthy just because some parents let their kids drink/eat nothing but unhealthy food!  Parents, feed your kids some fruits and vegetables; leave my chocolate milk alone!

Okay, I'm done.  I really miss good-tasting chocolate milk, though....   :crybaby2:

I'm wanting to see what people believe the most common reasons why more women don't join male-dominated careers for a research paper.

A.  Sexual Harassment discourages them.
B.  Discrimination (hiring/promotions "glass ceiling")
C.  Male-dominated Jobs lack flexibility
D.  Women lack the qualities to be successful
E.  More than one of the above (please state)
F.  Other (please state)

I woke up this morning to a fine layer of snow outside, here in N Royalton, OH!  Didn't know it was supposed to snow!

Since this is the first snow of the season, I wanted to see who when everyone else has gotten their first snow of the season.

Support / Problem loading More Special Offers Section
« on: August 07, 2011, 06:23:29 am »Message ID: 397793
When attempting to load the More Special Offers section, I get the following error:
Sorry, but your request was not completed. Please try again by pressing the "refresh" or "reload" button.
Doing so only results in the same error over and over.  Attempted to load this section on different web browsers; same result.

Anyone else getting this error?

Off-Topic / Livestrong to lose weight
« on: July 07, 2011, 05:07:42 am »Message ID: 381051
16 days ago I started a site called Livestrong; I track my food intake and exercise on it.  I've lost about 5 lbs so far!

If anyone's trying to lose some weight, try using this site to monitor your food intake and activity level.  It's amazing how much my compulsive snacking has decreased; I don't want to have to write it down, so I don't eat it!

Off-Topic / Toddlers
« on: March 23, 2011, 07:50:32 pm »Message ID: 330067
I have a 2 year old nephew, and as a toddler, he is currently in my absolute favorite stage of babyhood.  Just a few minutes ago, he got his hands on my sister's phone, and managed to call me.  We engaged in a lively, enlightening conversation (where he babbled incoherently about whatever was on his mind, and I made appropriate noises of encouragement).  It was after a couple minutes of this, that my sister found him and managed to convince him to let me get off the phone (she told him it was my bedtime).

I suppose the point of this is:  I adore toddlers.  They are so precious!  Anyone else have cute toddler stories?

Debate & Discuss / TSA's new X-ray scanners and new pat down rules
« on: November 18, 2010, 07:24:03 pm »Message ID: 271303
Since there have been no new debate topics lately, I want to know what D&D thinks of the TSA's new security measures.

The security measures in question I am talking about are the combination of the new imaging scanners in some airports, combined with the new pat-down rules.  Basically, these image scanners take a picture of your nude body under your clothes, and someone checks the picture for anything that may be hidden under your clothes.
http://www.stufftotweet.com/tweetthis/wikihow/how-to-prepare-for-a-tsa-body-scan-or-pat-down
(an example of what the picture would look like, what someone will be looking at when they scan you)

Q. If a passenger does not wish to be screened using advanced imaging technology, do they have options?
A. This technology is optional to passengers in the U.S. Passengers who opt out of imaging technology screening will go through alternative screening, including same-gender pat downs. Passengers flying to the U.S. from international destinations should check with the country from which they are flying regarding that nation’s policies. For more information on use of advanced imaging technology in the U.S., visit www.tsa.gov.
http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/guidance_international_flights.shtm

The pat down is more invasive than normal pat downs; they are allowed to use their fingers and hands to check every part of you, including grabbing and lifting *bleep*/genitalia over clothing.  The part that really gets me steamed is even children have to get these pat downs if the parents don't want them to go through the scanner, though children under 12 get a "modified" pat down.  I don't want my 14 year old brother molested by a possible pedophile just because he doesn't want someone to look at his naked body via scanner.

Personally, I am uncomfortable with both of these choices.  If the airport near me gets one of the imaging scanners, I don't think I will fly anymore.  The idea of picking between letting someone I don't know look at my naked body (even through an image) or getting one of these "new" pat downs makes me rather upset, actually.  I believe TSA is going completely overboard with these new regulations.  What does the rest of D&D think?
