Should Marijuana Be Legalized?

YES.  Why not.  I think it's no worse than alcohol or nicotine, besides I would rather knock down a few "joints" rather than "shots" and would be much better off to still make it to work the next day!!!

I believe yes, in personal reasons.
But I don't think it should either, marijuana is a gateway drug and i think it would be worse if it was legal.

To me, there is no such thing as a gateway drug, you choose to put what you want into your own body, only you have influence over it. Unless you have a mental defect, or a condition that makes you unable to control your decisions, or someone forces it upon you, Marijuana cannot be blamed for creating all of the drug addicted people in this world.  I used to smoke, among other things, and anything after that, I CHOSE TO DO...........marijuana is incapable of making decisions the last time I checked!!!!

I still don't understand why its illegal. It doesn't make any sense. It used to be legal during the time of our founding fathers. Everyone always talks about what the founding fathers did and didn't want in debates yet don't like to talk about the fact that the founding fathers grew the stuff in their own fields. Of course it should be legal. Alcohol is legal and tons of people die from it, same with tobacco. It boggles the mind!

No and alcohol should be banned also, two wrongs do not make a right, these things kill people, you can get behind the wheel of a car, stoned, and fall asleep and kill people, or drive funny zoning out, so don't tell me that marijuana should be legal, they need to get rid of alcohol too.

Marijuana itself does not kill people Lynnc35. Just because someone decides to be irresponsible while driving does not mean that the item they used before/while driving should be illegal such as prescription drugs, food, cell phones, lack of sleep (should we have mandatory nap time?) etc.

I am a former part-time smoker and I believe that it should be legal for anyone to have and smoke over the age of 21.  So many reasons why it should, can't list them all.  But here is one.  The supply and demand would do away with illegal and dangerous trade of weed.  Check out norml.org for more reasons.  Republicans should be for it because it is a basic right of americans but they would lose the church vote.  SEPARATE politics and religion....

Definitely, my husband has cancer, and if he smokes, he is committing a crime; but if he gets drunk and destroys his liver, that's somehow okay. Whose pockets are overflowing.  It's such a messed-up bunch of crap

I have never smoked it, but most of my friends have at sometime in the past.  I have kind of hit the point where I don't care anymore, whether or not they do.  Either way someone it going to be mad, guess you can't make everyone happy.

I totally agree with you, so many people immediately blame the drug, instead of taking into account the decision made by the person who harmed others By their actions....
