i got a speeding ticket recently, has anyone successfully won a speeding ticket in [ca]?

California is NOTORIOUS for their speeding tickets...I mean tickets in general. What are they now? $300? Awful. My advice to you is prolong the court date as far as possible. They expect you to just pay it since most people can't make the court date/dont want to miss work/live far away. But since california is actually so backed up by people fighting these things you may just get it dropped.

If you're still looking for action, read the ticket and see if you can prolong the courtdate-- most will let you get another date. If they dont drop it and grant you one, call them up a week prior to that second date and play the sympathy card saying you can't make it. Take it as far as possible before paying! Look up "The Ticket Assassin" as this explains it better than I can.
