What is the best headache medicine that you take ? I have had a headache for two days now. I really don't want to have to get a shot for it.

Exedrin usually works for me.  But it only works if I catch the headache early.

First i would try to self diagnose. ask your self

1. Have you gotten enough sleep?

2. Are you eating on time?

Also sometimes a head ache can be a sign of something more serious so i would check with a doctor just in case. Maybe take a nap? see if it goes away. I always try to see if i can fix it with out taking meds first.

if your head ache is really sharp just behind the eyes, go see your doctor and make sure it isn't your blood pressure going too high or too low. that can be very dangerous.

Have you tried Ibuprofen (Aleve)? I get  ot of stress induced headaches, and that usually works for me.

Aspirin-Excedrin,hands down!

Non-aspirin- Aleve,the commercials are right-take two and your pain is gone all day. I use this for my arthritis,it's a miracle pill!

If it's a migraine, you might need the shot. Otherwise I would try aspirin and put an ice pack on your head. Also drink something with Caffeine.

 :sad1    Are you going through caffine  withdrawells??? Sometimes a strong cup of coffee helps.

I get really bad headaches and I take 3 ibuprofen (it is the same as 1 prescription motrin).

Ibuprofin works good for me.  A cup of coffee.  Sometimes I just need to eat and take a nap.  Hope you feel better!

Good points. Figuring out what triggered the headache will help you determine what kind of headache it is -- sinus, tension, migraine, stress.

Also, where is the headache? All over, or behind your eyes or cheeks (might be sinus) or one-sided (might be migraine)? Is the pain dull, or sharp and throbbing? These things will help determine the type of headache, and the treatment, as well.

Different types of headaches respond to different treatments.

I too have frequent headaches but mine are related to a pinched nerve in my neck, I take Ibuprofen 600mgs and Tramadol 50mgs for my pain, but both of those are prescriptions. Also, I have found that an ice pack on the back of my neck works fairly well too. As for over the counter meds, I think Excedrin is the best for normal headaches.

I agree! that has always been the primary reasons everytime headache attacks me.
