This thread has been around since May of last year.  Many people who posted in this thread for followers, including myself, have since been paid the twitter bonus.  If it were against the rules, they would have done something about it by now.  I am glad to have gotten followers and people to follow from this thread; I've seen many interesting posts on twitter from them.
