T.M. L. Survey and Evaluation Services?? Anyone know if this is legit?

I just recieved a check that looks legit from T.M.L. and it is basically to do some mystery/secret shopping. Has anyone actually had any dealings with them?  I haven't been able to find any info on the internet and I am sort of afraid to deposit the check into my bank account and there is no local branch of their bank here where I could cash it.    Any info would be much appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

Hi, you can take it to your bank and they can investigate it before it goes into your account. I did this with a check I received once. Mine turned out to be a fake. Ask the manager at your bank to help you out. Good luck!

i'm confused. why would you get a check from them? is this from a past offer or something?

No They want me to be a secret shopper and make a series of purchases at different retailers with most of the money and keep the rest as a fee.  I just wasn't sure about the validity of the offer.

I called the bank the check was written on and the check is written on a valid account but they said that the check is counterfiet.  Apparantly someone else is using a legit business account to write phony checks.  So beware if you get anything in the mail from them it is a scam.  Just a heads up!

i'm in the same boot but mine is a bit diff... i got a check for 4883.00 to do the same thing... got the form with it and all to fill out for each company i am to do... and it is a site i had joined up with.... i called the bank on it and looked it online also.. the bank is online and open and looks legit... and when i called they said the check was good and told me the amount it was for and so on... they only asked my the account # and the check #....  it's a cashiers check... the thing that is stopping me from cashing it and doing this is, i have seen so many say that those sites don't send checks out. they send out gift cards for the stores. i could'nt find anything online on any of the scam sites or anything for the company but i'm still scared to cash it as i would have to use a check cashing place. and even if it did go threw there and something happened after. once i had spent the money doing what i'm supposed to... i don't have alsmot 5 grand to pay it back. from what it says, 500.00 is mine. the rest is for 5 diff places i am to do things at. 50 for walmart, 1200 for western union and things like that... what do you all think?. do you think since it has western union and the other money sending place on it they would know about them if i called?


thanks for your imput and sorry for someone trying to scam you....  other reason i am so leary is about a year ago a got a cashiers check in the mail for 7500.00 it had the water marks n everything. even the tellers at the bank said it looked legit. they would'nt know if it was fake. so i'm getting really happy at this point... ( it was from a company i had heard of... or thought i had.. saying a won a sweepsstake) low and beheld. i call the credit union on it... and same as your story.. it's a open account but a furged check. it was from pch direct so at 1st i thought it was just part of pch..... WRONG! so yes always be careful.

but like me know what you all think about this.

  If it seems TOO good to be true, normally it isn't true.

Yeah it is a scam.  IF you look at your letter they sent you it says that when you call them they will tell you who to send the Western Union money to.  That is the scam you deposit the check in your account and then send the money order to whoever they tell you.  The check bounces and you are left with a truly messed up bank account and someone else has your western union money order.

That's what my letter said too.

i'm thinking about going ahead and doing it now that i talked to the moneymart i would be cashing it at. i don't have a bank account anywhere near home where i could depo it if i wanted to... but the check cashing place said that is it does pass check systems and goes threw then something happens later.. like a stop payment put on it or somthing.. they handle it. i would not have to pay anything back as long as i do what i'm suppose to from the letter. and keep recipes for it. i can't really say it's to good to be true.. it's only 500 bucks in my pocket you know what i mean... now if it was the whole thing for me... like the sweepstakes one i got lol. all of that was supposed to be for me excipe 250.00 . lol

Well, If you decide to go ahead with it let me know how it works out!  When I called the bank the check was written on they said it was a valid account number but that it did not belong to the company that was using it.  So basically it would have passed check systems etc. and then come back to haunt me.  That's why I didn't mess with it.

i have seen several people go through this and from my experience the check is most likely a fake and the money you are suppose to wire is going to the scam artist and he just go 1200 buck free and you are risking being sued and even jail if you cant pay it off. just my opinion... DO NOT CASH IT.
