In Support of Our Troops!
« on: September 17, 2010, 10:45:58 am »
This website is absolutely amazing!!

The mission of Let's Say Thanks is to provide a way for individuals across the country to recognize U.S. troops stationed overseas. By submitting a message through this site you have the opportunity to send a free personalized postcard greeting to deployed servicemen and women.

The postcards, depicting patriotic scenes and hometown images, were selected from a pool of entries from children across the country.

All you have to do is click on your favorite design and either select the message that best expresses your sentiment or draft a personal note. The postcards are then printed on the Xerox iGen3® Digital Production Press and mailed in care packages by military support organization Give2TheTroops®.

Xerox is committed to helping people across the nation express their gratitude to our troops overseas. The launch of this program is aimed at reminding them how much Americans appreciate their service.

If you haven't already done this, you should!

Thank you. I am a vet of Iraq. I know how much just a small note means. it always got me through the long days away from family and home.

You are absolutely welcome. and THANK YOU for your services!!  :star:

I have family and friends over there as we speak, and I know from speaking with them how hard it is to get by, and just the smallest little notes and packages help.

Thank you for posting this! I send notes to deployed soldiers all the time.

My hubby was in Afghanistan, but there were a lot of people over there who didn't really have people writing to them. He also thought it was cool to get an actual letter and pictures, instead of just an email or MotoMail. He was always sharing what I wrote about home with the other guys. When he got back, I was cleaning up his gear and found he had all the pictures I had sent him in a pocket. It was so sweet to see that! I'm glad I made the time to do something so small that made his time there easier.

It doesn't matter how short or long the note is--they will appreciate it! There are a lot of soldiers over there who really aren't that close to their families and need some encouragement. There are also soldiers who miss their kids births, and miss their families dearly. Anyone over there would love some support from our country!

Thanks in advance for those of you who do this!

Absolutely!! and You can send as many as you want!!

Thats so sweet to hear Missij!! I hope that more people out there are doing that same thing!

We are always donating stuff for military needs/moms, and we always send stuff to my best friend Missy like deodorant, shampoo, fave snacks, and she was begging for some Monster(energy drink) lol because everything is so hard to come by out there. She's been in afghanistan several times, and she is finally coming home at the end of this year!! hopefully.. *fingers crossed* ...

:cat: Thanks very much, for this info.  My son arrived back from Iraq recently.  Our family and friends are always interested in things to do to help remember our troops, etc.  :)

donating to our troops is good because they are fighting for our proud country just to make sure that we can live another day "proud to be an American"

That's great to know! I think that it's very important to show them our appreciation for everything they do. It can't be easy being away from family and friends for so long and it breaks my heart knowing that some of our soldiers don't have people here at home to send them care packages and little notes of thanks. I'm glad that there are so many organizations doing what they can to make those men and women feel a little closer to home!

Thank you for sharing this awesome link. I send a lot of donations to organizations that help our troops and veterans, and I'm always looking for other ways to let them know how much I appreciate their service. I regret not having enlisted when I was younger, and I like to know there is some small way I can help those who did join the military.
Is there some way to write my own message in one of their cards, or do I have to pick one of the ones they have?

Thank you! It's always nice to hear that SOME people appreciate it. Back home (in Nebraska), they recently had a funeral for a fallen soldier. There were a ton of "Christian" protesters there. I can't believe anyone would protest at ANY funeral, but this was over the top. Thank God for the Patriot Guard here! They keep people waaaaay back. We also have laws here about how close protesters can get to the actual funeral site. It just makes me sick that anyone would think of doing that.

I just don't understand that. They are over there fighting for us, and dying for us! How could people protest at a funeral?!! Its disrespectful and makes me sick!  :'( :angry7: >:(

But I am so glad to see so many people supporting our troops. I wanted to share this link because the soldiers deserve to know that we support them. Thanks everyone for your posts!!     ;D :star: and please share the link with everyone you know. The more people the better!!
