Kim,

I've never been sailing either.  It does sound like fun, though.  You'll have to let me know what you think about it.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate as well.
What you're doing reminds me of one year that we went to Michigan to see some friends of my hubby who were both in the Marines.  Our youngest, our daughter, was only 3 months old and it was in January.  They took Roddy and I snowmobiling on Lake Michigan.  I'd never been around anything like that growing up in the south, and I had the most amazing time out on that frozen lake!  They also took us cross-country skiing, too.  That was one of the best vacations I had ever had!  I learned a lot about the "snow and ice" activities and loved it.

That's a shame about what's going on with your pool - that's got to be frustrating while being off and not getting to try it out.  One good thing though, you'll be more than ready to enjoy the cool water with the hot days coming up.  Hope it happens soon for you.

Yes, your time off has kind of sped by, hasn't it!  But I can tell you are already focusing on being mentally ready for Wed.  You go, girl!!!  You have come a long way from December, in the mall kiosk, waiting to hear that you were accepted into this program.  You are doing great!

Hope you have a nice Memorial day.  Look forward to hearing from you or seeing you on FB.  It sounds like things are on the positive.  I pray so.  Talk to you soon!

Julie,

I'm a little apprehensive about the sailing to be honest.  I keep envisioning "the perfect storm".   :crybaby2:  We had storms last night but today's forecast is pretty good so it will probably be fine.  The guy that's taking us out is experienced so I'm sure he knows his stuff.  He is from England too and I just love hearing his accent although sometimes I have to ask him to repeat what he is saying or he'll use an unusual word.  Last year when I was knitting a scarf he asked me a couple of times if I was making a wrap and I didn't know what he was saying or meant.  tee hee.

I used to love snowmobiling when I was younger but I don't think I'd have liked the idea of a frozen lake beneath me!  However, once when snowmobiling we were cutting through a back yard and I almost got hung by a low hanging clothesline.  It caught me right in the throat and threw me clear off the machine.  I saw stars for a moment and thought I was going to be sick to my stomach for a while.  I had to lay on the ground for a few minutes to recover.  As a matter of fact I haven't been back on a machine since then.  Sarah Palin has it all over me when it comes to riding around on the frozen tundra.   ;D

Is your family doing anything special for Memorial Day?

My family graves are a little too far away for me to visit so I posted a memorial to my dad and uncle online through Facebook.  My dad was so proud to have served and he was a little of everywhere during WWII but managed to meet up with my uncle, his BIL, who he considered a brother, in every country they went to, including Germany, Belgian and France.  As soon as his troop would land he'd find out where my uncles troop was located and make it a point to find him.  Boy did they have war stories.

Well you have a great day and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Kmi

im 57 female and I am a truth seeker
being on a spiritual path is difficult. if you follow all the rules there is miracle on occasions. then you wonder why things dont work out the way you expect it in a lot of ways and you may announce to the universe. will you quit jerking around and pay attention.

Its fun to be a grandma also. that is when your daughter n law is not afraid you will talk about her to the grandchildren. she smokes and drinks and get paranoid of me being so kind and all. and in generally a person like that who goes to a catholic church is pretty self righteous toward a good christian.

life is not all daises when you chose to be a truth seeker and a peacemaker. :peace:

Charmaine,

I know it certainly isn't easy being a Christian.  There are a lot of people who don't agree with what a Christian believes and so many who have removed God from things such as the classroom, etc.  It makes me wonder sometimes why those people are so adamant against God or even the idea of God.  I agree with you that when you try to follow the rules and have those positive answers we want, that it is hard to understand why there are other things we either don't get or hear anymore about.  I try and look at it as how a parent says, "Yes," "No,", "Maybe," or "Not now."

I know exactly what you mean about your daughter-in-law.  We have a hard time with ours, too.  We just try to be pleasant to her and show her love and care no matter what.  I think she sometimes doesn't know how to handle that we won't argue with her or cut people down with her like she likes or wants to do.  We try do the nice path with her for the sake of our son and granddaughters.  Our son is in the Navy, and is currently on his 4th deployment.  We don't want him to have to worry about things when he is away like that.  He doesn't need that extra burden on him.

Overall, yes, it is hard trying to be a peacemaker!!  You hang in there and I'll try to, also!!

Kim,

You are probably out there as I speak sailing and enjoying yourself!!  I hope you had a wonderful time and that you'll be ready to go out again.  One of my dad's many jobs was being a shrimper.  I loved going out on the shrimpboat on the weekends.  I love the smell of the oceans, the wind and sun, and learned so much about shrimping and collecting treasures when the nets poured their catch in the boat.  The sound of the engine would lull me to sleep at nights, even though I didn't like that diesel type of smell.

I love hearing the British accent.  I had a great-great-aunt from England who would visit occasionally over here when I was young.  I was enchanted by her accent and always tried to imitate it.  One of my uncles on the same family side (my dad's) would go to England a lot and could flip to that accent at the drop of a hat.  All of us cousins would constantly badger him when at my grandmother's, to speak it for us.

That's awful about your snowmobiling accident!  I'm glad you were okay!

We're having a small get-together with some friends, today.  Roddy and I watched one of the specials on tv that involved all the branches of the military - he was in the Marines.  So was his dad.  My dad and grandfather were both in the Army.  My grandfather served under General Patton.  I "laid" a wreath for them (my dad and grandfather) also on FB.

I checked into a medical coding and billing program today that came up in connection with the hospital/doctor offices in our little ole town.  They are actually looking for some people with data entry experience that they can train for the billing and coding.  They also want experienced billing and coders.  It makes me wonder why they don't just take them that already know it or maybe it has to do with wanting them trained in their way.  I thought I would see if you know why.  Anyway, I have a 2:15 appointment tomorrow to discuss things.

Enjoy your day - talk to you later!

Julie  :)

Charmaine,

I too am a truth seeker and on a spiritual path.  Yes it is difficult at times when the people you deal with are of a different opinion, especially if they are family.  All we can do is love them more and show them by example of how we live our life and treat others.

Happy first day of June
« Reply #321 on: June 01, 2011, 02:19:15 am »
I just submitted my request for my 3 dollar bonus for posting in the forum and was approved.  Yippee!  Goodness knows I enjoy posting and talking with friends but the 3 bucks will come in handy.  Seems like I'm always strapped for money lately.

Can you believe we are already six months into this year!?

Today is my first day of school for my second semester of school.  Excited and anxious.

Have a wonderful day and be sure to take time for yourself.

I received the Forum Bonus, too.  Thanks to FC, every little bit helps!  I didn't quite make enough for cashout for May but will for June.  There was just too much going on with my job that ended and not feeling well that kind of hindered me achieving that goal.

I'm excited for you going back today.  Hope it's a great start back for you.  Talk with you later!

I'm 51 years old, medically retired, (not by choice), live frugally because I have to. That's why I love FusionCash. I can make extra money to cover some bills. :notworthy:

Hello tech2D.

Glad you stopped by.  I'm sorry about your medical retirement.  I know it's hard living on a fixed income and yes things like FC help a little.  Every penny counts these days.  I always tell people that make fun of my time spent on FC daily earning a little change that if they were to find 17 cents or more a day laying on the ground they too would stop and pick it up.  They usually agree with my theory.

I hope you stop by often.  I've made some good friends on FC.

Have a wonderful day.

Frogs and snakes
« Reply #325 on: June 03, 2011, 04:27:04 am »
Yesterday as I was coming through the breezeway a frog hopped in front of me and startled me.

Last night as I was walking through the garage carrying a tray of food for dinner on the deck a snake comes slithering out from under the spare fridge right in my path and startles me.

I'm not afraid of mice, non-poisonous snakes or frogs in particular IF I know they are there but this whole thing of being there unannounced is a little disconcerting!

Kim,

Have you heard of the old saying that things tend to happen in 3's?  So keep your eyes open!  A frog is one thing but a snake is a totally different issue.  I cannot stand to be around any kind of snake, whether poisonous or not.  I hope it wasn't poisonous!!

How did your first day back at school go?  I was thinking about about you and hoping you had a great and productive day!  I know you are totally back in your busy mode so I'll not keep you.  I''ll talk to you later!!!

Julie

Tech2D,

I agree with you - it is hard enough trying to find work in today's economy, much less when you have to be out because of medical conditions, or even retired because of different reasons.  I'm in the middle of a work change myself and it's just not easy.  I hope things get better for you.  I love FC and at this point, it definitely helps me with my smaller medical bills and I've made some nice friends in here, as well!  I enjoy the Forum, including browsing topics, writing, debating, making friends, while at the same time, earning a bonus for doing just those things!

Things in three's
« Reply #327 on: June 04, 2011, 04:18:56 am »
Julie,

I will keep my eyes open for sure!  The snake wasn't poisonous.  It was a housesnake.  I am hoping it will feed on a few of the field mice that kept invading us during the winter.  I hope there isn't a whole family of them though.  My mom used to have a Garder snake living under her front porch.  It would lay on the bottom step and sun itself.  She wouldn't let anyone do anything to harm it.  I would go to her house, see the snake on the step, step over the snake to get into the house then when I was leaving I would always forget it was there and almost step on it and frighten myself silly.

It had babies one summer and a few of the offspring stuck around for a while so mom had a family of snakes.  Unfortunately my step dad mistakenly mowed over them.  Boy was mom mad at him!

School is going well.  Of course I only had three days in so no tests to try my mental capabilities yet.  I have a bit of homework for the weekend but nothing overwhelming yet.  I'm watching Bob's grand-daughter today and tomorrow while her mother is at work.  We have a new sandbox to try out so I'll be sitting on the deck doing homework, watching her at play and keeping an eye out for the snake.   :P

Have to water all of the outdoor plants today too so you can be sure I'll be snake watching there too.

Hope you are having nice weather as we are and can enjoy some outdoor time without the allergies flaring up.

Later,

Kim

Hi Kim,

It really is nice today, weather-wise.  It's going up to about 89, sunny, and with a breeze.  If I sit in the shade for a few minutes, I can do okay.  I just can't handle being in the direct sun with a couple of my meds - it breaks my skin out in a horrible rash that burns and itches at the same time.  I do like to sit out on our screened-in back porch when the sun is on the other side of the house.  With the breeze it's really nice.  I'll take my laptop, or a book out there.  The 3 cats always follow me out there and crowd around me enjoying it, too.

Roddy told me not to worry about the black racer snake we have under our shed.  He knows my terror at snakes.  These snakes tend to speed away in fear of us.  The biggest reason he doesn't mind it around is it will eat any rattlesnakes that may come around.  So I steer clear if I see it and let it do its job.

I'm checking into an online job for e-jurors.  The attorneys present the cases (such as car accidents, etc.) to certain e-jurors before taking the case to court.  They ask certain questions about things to find out how some of the issues can be presented for jurors to understand and to better give examples, such as charts with the lanes/cars/arrows, etc. to see if they need modifications or are understood.  They also ask for your opinions and verdicts and why those opinions and verdicts.  They pay pretty well for each individual case.  It doesn't have anything to do with the case itself, in court, but helps while they are getting their case together beforehand.  I sent the info to Roddy's computer just so he can look into it for me, too.  It's backed by credentials, etc., but I just want to make sure about it.

I think it's good you had a short week to begin with your schooling after break.  That way you got your brain back in and motivated, but didn't have to overdo at the start with tests.  Hope you enjoy your weekend with his granddaughter.  "See" you soon!

I hope that you have better luck than I did with this jury thing. I signed up for every one of those that I could find. Gave them ALL that information and NEVER HEARD A WORD FROM ANY OF THEM !! :angry7: :BangHead:
