freepcmoney,

I'm glad you told me this.  That's not good.  There are two different sites I'm actually looking into.  I really appreciate your feedback as I search this out.  :)

I am 35 and considered by the medical profession "advanced maternal age" because I am expecting. They say that I need more care than I would have if this baby were born a mere 5 months sooner. I home school my kids. I'm a cub scout leader and have been for more than 5 years. I have 4 boys and 1 girl and this last baby-to-be is another boy. This month, we'll celebrate being married for 16 years.

Hi springsgardner,

I'll assume by your name you like to garden?

I think more and more people are having babies at later ages and doing fine.  The important thing is how you've been feeling during this pregnancy.
Kudos to you for the homeschooling and your other activities and congratulations on 16 years of marriage.  I'm a big advocate of homeschooling. I schooled my son from the 9th grade on but wished I could have done it for all my kids their entire school years.

Snakes and ejurors
« Reply #333 on: June 05, 2011, 04:25:39 am »
Julie,

I had never heard of the ejuror thing before.  I guess just check it out thoroughly and make sure you are getting in with a reputable company.  It would be nice to find a niche where you could make decent money (I'm not asking for rich) and work from home.  I keep waiting for the fickle finger of fate to tap me on the shoulder and gift me with my dreams too.

It never did rain here yesterday but there were severe storm warnings in neighboring counties.  Today is gray and dreary already and it looks like the five day forecast is nothing but storms.  I wholeheartedly want some rain for my plants right now but a whole week isn't necessary!

I wasn't outside much yesterday but didn't see the snake again.  You said about three sightings though and I remembered that the day before the frog and the snake I also got started by a baby robin in the garage.  It was flapping around and scared and I had to open the doors for it to get outside.  I guess and hope that was my 3's.

If it doesn't rain and it gets fairly warm I plan on getting in the pool and doing some cleaning.  We're dealing with some leaves still and some algae.  We're hoping to open the pool by the end of this week though.  The new solar cover arrived yesterday too.

Wishing you a great day.

Hi springsgardner!  I want to tell you that I like your profile name!  Everytime I see it I think of a nice garden with lots of flowers and color.  I homeschooled my 3 in their middle school - high school years.  I really enjoyed it and miss those days.  Congrats on your 16 years and I wish you the very best with your new baby boy-to-be!!  It sounds like you have a wonderful family.  :)

Hi Kim,

The weather was so hot today.  We had homecoming at our church today and I'm very thankful that is was really inside!  There's smoke smell in the air today, too, and if affected my breathing/cough just a little.  My inhaler helped.  I didn't react as bad as I usually do, so, once again, I'm thinking the shots are what's helping!  Roddy watered our maple trees today - they just look so hot and droopy and some of the leaves are dying.

I'll be glad for you when you and Bob are able to finally have the pool ready for you both to actually enjoy!  The idea of a pool sounds wonderful about now!

Let's say your 3's are ended now!  That poor robin panicing in that garage - I can just picture it flapping around.

I hope you have had a great weekend.  Good luck on your first full week back at school!  Later, my friend!

Good Monday morning

Julie,

Why is there so much smell of smoke in the area? Are people burning things or are you having forest fires?

It hasn't been as warm here as it seems you are experiencing but then this is NW PA.  The mornings and evenings are acutally quite bearable but the afternoons heat up quite a bit.

I'm having to water all of the plants at least once every two days.  I went yesterday and bought a 2 gallon hand held pump for that purpose.  It's just too much trouble to drag the water hose clear from in back of the house to the front and side.  Plus you have to go to the basement to turn on the faucet.

I worked on the pool much of the day yesterday.  There are way too many leaves in there.  I got most of them but there is still a bit more work to be done.  I shocked the pool again but it's still green so it seems we're going to have to buy a special algae treatment.  Hopefully by next weekend!!!

Off to meditate.  I've been doing that regularly in the mornings then journaling.  It does start your day off nicely with a little relaxation.

TTYL,

Kim

Kim,

There are some fires around our area.  The main one is at the Okefenokee Swamp (also a tourist spot.) It's only about 18 miles away and borders 2 states (FL/GA.)  The wind is the factor with the smell.  There are fires in other counties around us, too.  I know one's about 40 miles away.  Yesterday the wind brought the smoke/smell our way.  It will probably be that way for a few days before it shifts.

You are really having a time with the pool.  That's got to be frustrating.  Hopefully that will change soon.

I agree with you about meditating before starting your official day.  That and/or doing a devotion in the quiet early morning just seems to make for a better day.  I know with me I don't feel so rushed and trying to catch up with myself, lol.

We've been keeping up with the trial of Casey Anthony on TRU tv.  I don't know if you have heard of her.  She lives in Orlando, FL, and is accused of killing her 2 year old daughter.  The problem is she lives in a world of lies and makes up her scenarios with people who don't even exist.  She said the nanny Zenaida Gonzolaz kidnapped her (nicknamed Zanny.)  It's been proven she's not real.  There is a real lady with that name but she has nothing whatsoever to do with what happened and has suffered because of this (threatening letters, emails, etc.)  She said a guy friend of hers introduced her to Zanny.  He hasn't even seen Casey in years and never heard of the lady.  Some people are inferring that Zanny is really Xanax that she could have used with the daughter so she could go party all the time, and maybe she overdosed her (speculation at this point.)  Anyway, it's been proven that the body was at one time was in the trunk of the car (horrible decomposing smell and other evidence), and she parked her car, at one time, near a dumpster and left it to sit there.  Anyway, I digress and I don't need to take your time away from your studies and your family time.

Hope your studies are going well for you.  Talk to you later!

Julie  :)

Fires and Casey
« Reply #338 on: June 07, 2011, 02:17:58 am »
Julie,

Those fires are very scarey.  I know they have been a problem in Florida and California but didn't realize your area was involved.

I know the case you are talking about.  I haven't been following it real closely but I guess I formed my opinion early on and in my mind the mother was guilty.  I did pay a bit of attention when she accused the father to see if there was anything to it but dismissed that thought quickly.

I hope they don't let this case drift on for much longer.  It has become sensationalized and now people are making money on it...except the taxpayers.

I'm studying the medical law and ethics now in school and I'm finding it challenging.  Everyone has such concrete opinions, right or wrong, and it makes it so dramatic to listen to the rantings of 20 year olds talking about things they have no idea about.  I have a hard time making concrete decisions on various things...I guess because I've lived a little life and see that things aren't always as cut and dry as they appear...on one hand...but then you see something like this trial or the OJ Simpson trial and your mind is made up and there is no turning back.

One of my stumpers on last nights assignment was if it is ever legally or morally right to steal and my first thought is absolutely not, however, I think of examples such as...what if there was a life threatening situation and you had to steal to save a life.  For instance...your child is bit by a rattlesnake and you are in the woods with no transportation, no cell phone to call for help and not enough time to wait for a response but come along a car that is setting there with the keys in it...would you steal the car to get to help?  I know I would and gladly go to jail.

I agree on the nightly devotion.  I'm supposed to be reading the book of John but I'm finding it hard to work everything into my schedule and I know a daily devotion should be a set pattern just like daily brushing of my hair and teeth.  I'll work on getting that in.   :angel11:

Kim,

I agree with you.  There is so much evidence against Casey Anthony that I would not see how someone could think otherwise.  But as we all know, everyone thinks differently about things.  The class you are taking, medical law and ethics, sounds interesting and like you said, challenging.  It's amazing how no matter what profession people are in that there are laws and ethics to be learned that are concentrated in that field.

Regarding the assignment on whether or not it is legally or morally right to steal, I have to agree with you on this.  I would say, typically, no stealing.  But, at the same time, I also think it would be according to what the situation is.  If it involved the life or death of anyone that I am around, then I'm absolutely sure I would do whatever I could to help the person, and then pay whatever penalty was deserved.  Like you, I'm not going to let someone die if it's in my power to help them.

John is a great book for reading and dwelling in.  I'm in the book of Mark right now, and I should be doing way more than what I'm actually accomplishing.

My younger 2 children (son, 25, and daughter, 23) just told me that for Father's Day/Birthday for their dad (hubby Roddy) they bought him an I-Pad.  They have pooled their money together over time to do this.  It arrived this morning and they are going to go ahead and give it to him tonight.  That was really neat of them to do that.  Roddy's been wanting one since they first came out, but we just couldn't afford it yet.  He'll probably tell them they shouldn't have done it, yet have fun playing around on it checking things out!

"See ya later!!"

Ipad
« Reply #340 on: June 08, 2011, 01:56:14 am »
Oh Julie the Ipad is going to be so much fun for your hubby.  We don't have a pad yet but we have Cruz readers.  People think that the readers are just for reading ebooks but they do so much more.  We can access the internet, so we're able to check our emails, surf, store our music, watch Netflix, and much much more.  I imagine there is more you can do with the ipad and the response time is much faster.  Let me know what he thinks of it.  Bob would like to have one too but I'm thinking maybe Christmas.

He installed an application on my phone last night so that I can watch Netflix.  I can access my Kindle account on my phone too so can read my books.  I have little applications to help me with various things for school like my medical dictionary and drug cards.  Isn't technology great?!

I have a report to do today for Med Law so I'm kind of nervous.  I chose the topic of the lawsuit that is going on in Arizona regarding the Medical Marijuana where the governor wants clarification on whether they are actually breaking Federal Law by dispensing it and allowing people to grow it for medical conditions.

I am really having a problem wrapping my head around learning the metric system!  It's part of my Anatomy class if you can believe that.  It seems like I get a major brain cramp when I start to think about it yet they say it's easier than the English system we all know.

Have a good day.

Kim,

I wish you could have seen his face last night when he opened the Ipad!  It was priceless.  And considering the hardship financially right now, he actually got emotional that our son and daughter were able to even afford to buy it.  They both gave up things they could have gotten and instead saved up to buy that for him.  He had the most fun trying out things last night (email, games, music, browsing books and seeing which ones he received free,...)  He teased me about it being an e-reader but I know he'll share, lol!

That was neat having Netflix installed on your phone.  Also the applications to help with school are great.  I'm enjoying my Kindle on my phone.  I always have a book (or books, lol) with me wherever I go, but sometimes do forget to change out or leave it in the car when I go in for doctor appointments.  Now I've got the Kindle on my phone to fill in.  Yes, technology is definitely great!!

Your report for Med Law sounds intriguing - I would be nervous myself if I had to do one on that subject.  It seems as if the idea of Medical Marijuana is becoming more of a focus topic than they thought it would or should.  I'd hate to be in the Governors' shoes when dealing with the legality of the law about this.  Let me know how it goes.  You'll do great!

Yes, they say the metric system is easier to learn but I feel that when we have been raised and taught our whole life on the English System, that it is actually harder for us.  To me, it's kind of like trying to learn Spanish, including conjugating the verbs and all.  I struggled with that!  When I taught 2nd and 3rd grades, we had a whole section on teaching the Metric System.  I had to work hard at getting it down for myself before I could actually teach them.  They picked it up so fast, though, and could figure things out quickly (a lot better than their teacher, lol, but they didn't know it!!)  Keep on keeping on!

Julie  :)

Julie,

I'm glad your DH is enjoying his new Ipad.  I'm sure he'll share.  There are acutally quite a few good free books out there to be had.  I have a few of the classics I'd like to reread or haven't read at all so there is a lot to choose from.

The report went well and really stirred debate in the room.  The thing we learned is that although our state isn't one that has legalized it there is a medication that is perscribed legally which is pure THC.  It is in a capsule form and not smokable.  I suppose other states are able to do the same.

I believe our one dog, Cleo the Chow, is dying.  She has been losing control of her bowels the last few days.  It started out with little turds dropping here and there and then yesterday went into full blown diaherra. She has gone to the garage and doesn't even attempt to come in the house.  Bob will take her to the vet today but I'm pretty sure of the outcome.  She is probably 15 years old.  His back is hurting really badly so it's going to be hard if he has to bury her.  It's early as I write this but I might have to decide to take the day off of school to stay home to help him.  I'll update on FB later if we put her down.

Kim,

I'm so sorry to hear about Cleo.  Bless his heart. Maybe (hopefully) the vet can help her.  But if not, I feel for you.  My cat, Gracie, will be 15 this month.  I'm not sure what I'll do when that time comes for her. We and our pets really get attached to each other, like family, and it's hard when we have to go through it.  I know it's hard the other way around, too.  When my mom died, her dog (which was our dog but they connected with each other so much after she "dog-sat" one week for us) was totally lost and mourned her.  My mom's cousin, who was real close with my mom, loved that dog and Max liked her a lot, too.  She asked that if I didn't take her back, could she take her.  I let her take her.  Now the cousin has a type of cancer and is not doing good.  Max is her comfort.  But if something happens to her I feel for Max.  Thanks for letting me know about Cleo.

I'm glad you're report went well.  It was a great topic so I'm not surprised to hear it got heated.  I have only recently heard about the capsules - I'm not absolutely sure, but I think it was about a debate in California.

Tomorrow is Friday already.  This week is going by quick.  Maybe you won't have too much studying to do.  "See" you soon!  :)
