If Someone Offers You Money
« on: April 07, 2011, 07:53:51 am »
If someone offered you money, like a family member, would you accept it?  I don't know if this is rude, but if they are offering then I say yes.  Like sometimes my Dad will just randomly give me $20 for gas or something - it's not like I asked for it, and I say "If you insist" and accept.  If they didn't want to help, they wouldn't offer, that's my opinion.  If I offered someone money I would get annoyed if they refused - like it was a game of going back and forth until they finally accepted.

Yes, I would accept. In fact, occasionally my grandfather will give me some money for gas, since I take him to places like the library. I don't think it is imposing on them if they offer of their own free will. It would be different if you were complaining about money troubles and then they handed you some money, in which case it would be more like begging. But I'm sure your father wouldn't give you the money if he couldn't afford it, unless he truly felt you really needed it more than he does.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too, like if I was complaining about bills THEN they offered that would be fishy but okay, I'm glad I'm not the only one!

I ususally turn down my parents money. I do things to help them out because they are my parents. We are both in ok financial situations, so they could part with it, but I really don't need it.

I would take it and say thank you. They are offering you something.
It is good to receive what others want to give you. It makes them feel good to give and it's  ok to be on the receiving end too.....
....reciprocate; "two way street".
Sometimes, it's hard for me to receive.
Some people have a hard time receiving anything. It is a good lesson, as well.

If I was needer than the giver, yes, I would accept the gift.  I always get more joy out of giving from the heart.  Praise the Lord that He has allowed me to be generous in the past.  Trusting on Him for the future....just lost my job ~ first time out of work in 32 years!!!  Pray for me!!
Have a wonderful day!

depends on who it was and how much. there's not too many situations where i wouldn't accept money from someone i knew.

I would accept it.  I believe when you give you get.  It's a blessing for both sides.

Sometimes I accept but not always because I don't want to take advantage of people especially if I am doing ok financially. My dad tries to give me money sometimes but he has been unemployed for months and I am working steadily. It doesn't seem right to take it when I know his situation. If he is really insistent I will take it but if not I try to convey that I don't really need it and give it back.

I am on the opposite end of this.  Nobody offers me money, but my kids sometimes think I am their personal ATM machine.  Only this ATM machine is out of order quite a bit.

I accept. I normally wouldn't, but I'm not in a position to turn anything down right now. Also, if they couldn't or didn't want to help, they wouldn't offer.

I think taking money from someone if their motives are right is okay. It would depend on how they regarded me. if they were always flirty and said off the wall things and had a lustful attitude, I would refuse. They would be setting me up for something, they may think I owe them later. that should be done on a case by case basis. Dad should not be a problem. just appreciate him and don't take advantage.

I would accept it only if I new they could afford to give it to me expecially in this economy. I know my mother offers but really can't afford to or she would not have any extra spending money for herself.
