fireworks on the 4th

where is your favorite place to see fireworks for the 4th of july
we live near washington dc -- we used to go to the national mall when we were dating, but the last few years because of our infant/toddler we haven't gone -- now our son would likely be old enough to enjoy it but the national mall is just too busy -- might try something more lowkey this year though before we have another baby!

I used to love fireworks and going with the family to watch them.  Now, it's just kind of 'meh'.  If I don't see any, I don't feel like I missed anything big.  I've actually started to detest this time of year, as people are shooting them off at their homes.  One of my dog's is utterly petrified of fireworks.  She hides under the bed, whines, and paces.  Just tonight, she was walking around in the kitchen.  Someone down the street set off a very loud firecracker and it literally scared the pee out of my dog.  She stood there dribbling on the floor, shaking.  I actually get quite happy once this time of the season ends!

The Local Y has a great 4th of July fireworks show Its nice but I think at the beach is much nicer

There's a few places that have shows near my area, so we go to the nearby park, lay out a blanket, and enjoy

I think Disneyland is a very GOOD location to see beautiful fireworks.  Other than that, this year will be my first year to see fireworks on the mountain coming from the Rose Bowl.

As a child I loved Fireworks and it was always done as a group.  Now, its not such a big fascination for me, plus the fireworks of my days aren't the same as they are today.  They are like bombs now and I don't feel they are safe anymore.

I don't go anywhere to watch them. They don't last long enough to make the trip worthwhile. Also, it means being out late and going to work the next day. Maybe we should celebrate the night before like New Year's so we could recouperate the next day.
