Does affirmative action work?

As the title says. I want to hear peoples opinions of affirmative action. Whether or not it works and where they believe such policies should or should not take place. I am looking for logical and reasonable arguments.

No. The government is not a better judge of fitness for a job than the owner of the company. Anyway, wasn't Pres. Obama's election proof that affirmative action is no longer necessary?

  It might have been a good idea in the beginning, BUT---NOW---it is a BIG BUNCH OF BS BECAUSE People who are not white males----Get the jobs that they are LESS QUALIFIED, or, NOT QUALIFIED  to do, and the white male is TOTALLY DISCRIMINATED AGAINST!!!

What happened to Dr. Martin Luther King's DREAM?? That one day, men would be judged by the content of their character, and NOT the color of their skin? You BLACK ACTIVIST ( like Jessee Jackson, Al Sharpton and NAACP) HAVE TOTALLY DESTROYED IT!!
