Thanksgiving with family and through Christmas. I'll be flying out next week. My son is working overtime to have the time off while I'm there. It will be a great time for all of us. He's got 40 acres of timbered land in the mountains, and we will be having long hikes, sleigh rides, snowmobiles, etc.

They have a huge Thanksgiving parade and celebration with fireworks in the city 100 miles away. We'll spend a couple days there and partake in the festivities. They ski and snowboard but I don't. I'll stay in the lodge by the fireplace and drink hot chocolate and read. If his friend doesn't "winter" his boat by then, we might go out on the lake to watch the fireworks. My 3 grandsons are planning something for me, but won't tell me what.

I can hardly wait!

We're staying home, like we always do. I'll probably spend most of the day sleeping and then wake up and eat some stuffing and cranberry sauce since those are the only things I like at Thanksgiving. Although one year my dad went to Colorado to visit his brother and sister and my mom and I stayed behind. I'm a vegetarian so it didn't make sense to have a turkey for just one person so we had cheese enchiladas instead. I'd rather do that every year.

Luckily most of my family all lives within an hour of each other, so it's not far to travel for any of us.  It's nice to always be able to spend time with them for all of the holidays.

Thanksgiving Day my husband and I will be staying home. Just the two of us for a quiet dinner and a day of watching football. I will get up early Friday to go shopping. In the afternoon we will drive 3 1/2 hours to visit my sister. Our Dad will join us and we will stay for a family get together until Sunday. I have to split the holidays up between my family, going to TN for some and MD for others.

My family lives close buy so I do celebrate with them. My parents are divorced so I tend to have two get-togethers. My mom likes to come to my place because she doesn't like the mess of cooking and I go to my dads house because he works hard and my grandparents live next to him and it is tough for them to travel to see me in town for the holidays. Although I do admit it would be nice to not have to travel at this time of year for Thanksgiving or Christmas. My boyfriends family is a 5 hour drive away so we make it a habit to have Christmas with both families. His family has only visited him once in 7 years and they make him visit 2+ times a year. It doesn't really seem fair to me.

We always have a huge family and friends meal at one of my daughter's.  We end up with between 20 and 30 people each year.  Some years we have had more than one turkey.
