Lord of the Rings. A long series of books and maybe a bit dry for some tastes, but a great fantasy series in my opinion!

I love the Harry Potter books, but I also enjoy nonfiction such as Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond and 1491 (can't remember author, but it was a terrific book).

If you like Harry Potter, you have absolutely got to read The Lord of the Rings.  It is, hands down, my all-time favorite book (or series of books.)  The world in it is deep and rich, with a full history to boot.  Phenomenal stuff.

Try tackling The Silmarillion, also by Tolkien, if you like LOTR.

I don't know, Jay! I loved all of the Harry Potter books but I absolutely loathed reading the LOTR series. Or should I say "trying to read," lol. The writing styles are a million miles apart!

I found a hard bound copy of The Lord Of The Rings Return Of The King. I found out later how much they go for on Amazon and was shocked. I paid 25 cents and the used copy I found on Amazon was over $200. The copy I have Is still In good condition too.

All of the Harry Potter books were really entertaining! I love seeing them made into actual movies and brought to life. Ive been reading the Twilight series and am enjoying those.
