What do you think of telemarkters?
« on: February 19, 2009, 09:32:04 pm »
Have you noticed they call at the weirdest times or they call every day or other day. Have you ever been in their shoes? Or ever worked in a call center where you have to call people, I now do that, so now if one of them call me and I answer I tend to let them talk but most times if I dont have the number programed in my phone then I dont know then personally and wont answer the phone. Most times they dont leave a message so it just gets deleted.

Ohh man, I did this and I feel SOOOOO much better. My tendency to answer the phone has improved. A LOT.
But if I were to voice my opinion of telemarketers I might get banned soo better not... ;)

I think its the companies fault for requiring them to harass people, i have a blocked number and they still call from the randomization of numbers

I have been a telemarketer, and knowing the way I feel about telemarketers I limited my rebuttals to the very minimum...you can tell when you have a person who is actually interested or doesn't give a hoot what you have to say....
The other part is that I dislike the telemarketing business entirely...I think that it should be illegal!!!! I mean it is a form of harrassment....Plus the "do not call list" is a load...it doesn't work...they still continue to call you no matter how many times you tell them not to!! They even call me at 9 and 10 at night, which is completely ridiculous...I have had to silence my ringer because I have two small children trying to sleep at that time! I think if they are going to do it they at least need to do it at reasonable times...say 12-5 or something!! That way they aren't waking anyone!! And I think that the caller ID should say telemarketer every time one calls!! I mean there are some that say it, but I think they all should!

I've telemarketed for a Newspaper, it's a thankless job, I'd say I was soft salesperson but those guys that can't take no for an answer gave us a bad rap.  Once you get off the list and it became taboo it's been nice and quite for years.  But Heads up everybody the next frontier for Telemarketing is in Cell phones; you can look forward to that----does anyone know of a telephone number to get off their List? :BangHead:

I agree that they are annoying. But I also realize that they're just doing their job. They're doing what they need to do to put food on the table. I doubt any of them actively pursued getting a job as a telemarketer, they prob just sorta fell into that job. And I'm sure many of them hate their job. So I try to not be mean or rude to them. I let them do their schpeel then just tell them I'm not interested.

When a telemarketer calls and asks for me, he or she always mispronounces my name. At that point, I say, "Sorry, she isn't here." The t.m. says, "OK, I'll call back later." No need for rudeness or confrontation!

i havent worked as a telemarketer but i cant stand them. they have been calling me about my tmobile account. as soon as they say that i hang up on them. i dont have tmobile. now that ive practically memorized the number i dont answer. and sometimes they call early on the weekends. they are so lucky i am already awake and at work with my phone on silent because if they woke me up they would be really angry and they would wish they didnt call. sometimes i just dont answer or just see what they want. i try to put myself in their shoes but they still get me angry

I love caller id!
If I don't know the number, (like an idiot) I answer the phone. But within 2-3 mins I know it's a telemarketer. I just let my answer machine pick it up future phone calls from that number(s). No use talking to those people, they seem not to understand the meaning of no or no thanks.

They are just people working a job like anybody else... their pitches can be annoying but I try not to get too irritated unless they refuse to let me off the phone when I tell them I need to go!
