What if this was the only question on the exam paper to pass your English Exam. Would you pass? Here is the question:

What nine letter word in the English language is still a word when eight letters are removed one by one?

"ll give the answer in couple days...I want to see what you say first :dontknow:

I know it, so I won't spoil the answer.  Here are a few more riddles if people are interested.

A:
12, 6, 3, 5, 4... what is the next number in this sequence?

B:
Sir, I bear a rhyme excelling
In mystic force and magic spelling
Celestial sprites elucidate
All my own striving can't relate

C:
I never was, am always to be,
No one ever saw me, nor ever will,
And yet I am the confidence of all
To live and breathe on this terrestrial ball.
What am I?

D:
If you break me,
I do not stop working.
If you touch me,
I may be snared.
If you lose me,
Nothing will matter.
What am I?

Albert Einstein.

Well, considering that Al Einstein didn't say that, other quotes are attributed to Al:

"Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT's relativity."
- Albert Einstein

Then there's this one, from L. Lederman, "Physics isn't a religion. If it were, we'd have a much easier time raising money."
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

Yes, I am quite the cynic. I have to say though, I am quick to admit when someone is more knowledgeable than me. While I am quite book smart, or learn rather quickly, I am under no illusion that I am world nor street smart. I also know that my knowledge is limited and love to learn so I enjoy being with those smarter than myself. Of course, my comparisons are limited to those I am around most every day, and I realize that benchmark is different with every person. You make an interesting point though. I can see how most people view themselves as relatively above the average.

You've obliquely hinted at yet another all-too-human behaviour; an almost inherent general perception that "street smarts"/"world-wise" is preferable to being "book-smart", (as if all acquired knowledge comes from books alone or, is somehow inferior to 'da street').  Observably, this attitude appears to stem from an unexpressed inner perception of the opposite, (and so, it ends up being an ego-defensive mechanism).  In parallel with such a self-perception, few enjoy being seen as 'stupid'.

"The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits."
-- Albert Einstein

Hmmm  I am thinking that D is a heart.
