Cramps in the leg

a pinched nerve i get them to off & on but not just in the leg i get them in the neck & my arm but if it keeps up you might wont to see your doctor

I agree, you should see your doctor.  I was getting terrible cramps in my feet and found out it was a lack of sufficient calcium.  I've been taking 3 tums a day for the past 4 years because of a very nice doctor who told me it would be as good as a more expensive prescription.

Was it a type of cramp that your leg muscles just kept contracting/spasming (like you leg trying to collapse in on itself)?  If so, it could have been a "charlie horse".  I tend to get those occasionally in my calves.  If that's the type of cramp, those are typically triggered by some kind of mineral imbalance in your system (not enough magnesium or potassium, etc).  Typically it takes a couple days for the area to fully relax and recover, depending on how bad the cramp was.  I've learned how to get myself to isolate and relax the area as one starts to spasm to minimize the effects - but I know those type of cramps hurt a lot!

I used to get terrible cramps in my legs, at night/while sleeping, when I was running ultra-marathons.  These would be so horrible that I would wake up screaming.  I spok with my doctor and he said that calcium, minerals, and water were crucial to replace everything that my long running patterns were depleting.  He also told me t stay way from carbonated beverages...especially diet colas.  I broke my foot two years ago and am just now recovering from a clot that occurred from wearing the cast so long.  Cramps in my calves as well as spots of heat and redness are beginning to surface...guess it is time torevisit the doctor!

The only time I get Cramps in my lags is when I am working and on my feet all day.

use to have them then my doctor asked me if I drank a lot of carbanated drinks since I don't do that anymore not so many I find if I don't walk a lot during the day I may be more apt to have one and ouch!!!

My whole family suffers from leg cramps also known as charlie horses.  Many medical conditions cause leg cramps. One of them is diabetes that causes poor circulation in the legs. Taking minerals like potassium, calcium and magnesium can help ease those horrible cramps.

Weather conditions might contribute to those charlie horses. A  few years ago I went to visit my parents in Virginia to spend Christmas. Two hours after I arrived at their home I got that horrible pain. I couldn't do anything, my wife and kids were scared to see how I was rolling on the floor in paid. My mom who is a retired nurse told me to calm down and just let it go. After a few moments the pain started to go away.

I won't wish that pain not even to my worst enemy. All we have to is follow the doctors instructions dn do more exercise and eat more healthy foods. My was that my cholesterol was high. I put on a diet and I have not have the cramps anymore.

Thank you sooooo much everyone.  I am diabetic.  and yes this hurt so bad that it woke me right up...yesterday when Iwent walking I had crocs on and I was wondering if it hadaything t do with that as well...I have been wearing sketchers as well and I know that altho they are suppose to help your legs, mine are always so sore when I take them off ugh......it was like someone took my calf and was twisting it into a knot OUCH

I never have cramp on my leg yet, however I heard it is very annoying my one of my friends has it very often

I also heard to wear warm socks during the night. My mom used to have leg cramps and that helped her.

Ugh yes, those hurt like hell.  So taking the minerals such as calcium/magnesium/potassium help, but I notice I don't get them anymore since I added organic silica.  Also taking colloidal minerals of all minerals helps too.

A good massage session of myofascial release does wonders and even deeper form of massage such as ROLFING can remove possible restrictions.

Diabetics also do well to add colloidal/chelated Chromium (as mentioned above), Vanadium and Cinnamon which is awesome for controlling blood sugar.

I've had problems with leg cramps (charlie horses), all over muscle cramps since I was a little kid.  The doctors have a list for what can cause them, dehydration is one factor which I think is what causes mine since I've never been much of a drinker (for anything except coffee).  I've been trying to drink more water and once a week if I haven't, I drink a Powerade or something similiar and staying hydrated has helped alot with those cramps.

Also, a remedy for leg cramps at night is to not tuck the sheets in too tight as well as keeping a scrap piece of bar soap nearby and a pair of socks.  For some reason, putting on the sock and putting the scrap piece of soap inside totally stops the cramp and it'll stay gone (no repeats) with the soap in the sock. [wierd, I know but it works.  I wish someone had told me that when I was a kid because I suffered for years!]

My mother swears by the bar soap method and she's 101 years old!  Many years ago she listened to a radio talk show at night when she had trouble sleeping and that's where she learned about the soap.  The talk host said to put a bar of soap under your fitted sheet and just keep it there to prevent leg cramps.  My mom has told everyone about this self help method and many people in the assisted living residence where she lives have thanked her for the information because it worked for them!  I keep a bar under my sheet and feel for it every night with my feet for reassurance that it's still there.  Some of these old fashioned remedies are the best!!!
