OMG! Ray Bradbury Dead at 91 this Tue!
« on: June 08, 2012, 04:17:54 pm »
I can't believe it, the most weirdest science fiction writer has left this realm! Thought the guy would live forever in fact when i saw how old he looked, I was shocked b/c in my mind's eye I only remember him in his youthful prime. Sigh, another Icon in my generation gone like dust in the wind. It just reminds me that as my idols & hero's meet Death....that sooner or later I to will be following right behind them. I now understand when I was young my grandma's sadness when her favorite idols/actors passed. It's like a piece of you, your identity/self, all things familiar to you dies too. My favorite book/movie was Fahrenheit 451! Any FC members a Ray B. fan? If so, what science fiction books did you like best or which of the movies from his books did you watch?  :notworthy: RIP RB 2012 take that last bow & wave goodby!

Sorry to hear that Ray Bradbury passed away.   However, Fahrenheit 451 was one of my favorite books, also.

Why the surprise? Check it out. I don't think there is anybody alive that was alive 150 years ago. Everybody dies.

He was one of my favorite writers along with Louis Lamour who had the majic of writing a story and brining you into it with his words.  I will miss him and the works he might have written.  But yes F 451 was my favorite of his.  RIP Ray.

I liked a lot of his short stories.  I also really like "Something Wicked This Way Comes."

If there was a Mt Rushmore of science fiction writers, Ray Bradbury would be on it.  I never read any of his books, but I did watch The Ray Bradbury Theater television show.  He will be missed.
