What Do You Do?

What do you do when the power goes out? Do you have an emergency kit are you prepared if you were to lose your power for days or even weeks?

It is important to have an emergency kit, wherever you live.
I live in Florida and a few power outages have taught me what I need.
I filter my water and have a couple stainless steel bottles filled for supply.
I have 2 battery -operated fans, 2 flashlights [one attached to one of the fans], and a hurricane lamp.

Here in the midwest, I'm afraid we tend not to be as prepared as others who tend to experience wide spread outages.  We're used to being able to drive up the street and find places with power.  Not very smart, I'll admit but that's human nature.

Use batteries. I even have a battery operated tv. Yes, it is digital and works with the high definition broadcasts.

We had a generator when we lived in Charleston because of the hurricane threat but didn't move it with us to Colorado. We have flashlights around but no real survival kit though I know we should.

I have scented candles and 2 long candles and when the power goes out I light them and sit here till the lights come back on.  I am really afraid of the dark.  May God bless each of you and keep you safe and have have wonderful weekend.

I have a monk that's taken a vow of silence.  If things go bad I can just let him out of his cage to light some candles, then he can be my cup bearer till the ordeal is over.   Nah,  I've got a flash light and stuff like most people do.   :P

...In August this summer, my girlfriend and I are having a survival week.  We are going to teach our kids how to start a camp fire, make shelter and find food up north in the woods.  It is something I think they need to know.
...Peace be with you.  :) Della
