getting fit

What are some good exercise techniques to do at home without gym equipment when you can't afford a gym membership? I walk through the neighborhood but want to do some things at home that are more physical. Any suggestions?

Tension bands are great!  You can do a number of exercises with them and they are fairly inexpensive!

Get a pull-up bar that fits in a door frame, those work well.

If you have a gaming system (I have Wii) Zumba and dancing games are great and really fun!

Has anyone or does anyone know of someone that has tried the Insanity? My cousin had it and she hasn't opened yet wondering should she send it back because of the reviews of vomiting the first couple of days. I was going to get it from her and maybe try it. Just wondering what someone else thought.

Insanity is great... if you already have a good fitness base. If you are a beginner, it is going to be very tough when you start out.

No one needs any equipment. Good old pushups, crunches, wall squats, climbing stairs, running/walking, and planks will all do great things for you. Yoga will help too, and you don't NEED a mat or expensive clothes to do yoga. If you want to add weight for resistance, find things around the house - a gallon of milk, cans of veggies, etc.

I have equipment and a treadmill, but 70% of my routine is "old school" stuff. Good luck!

I'm working on a plan now. I'm going to try to keep track of a daily schedule and even write down what i eat. I found a system graph to go by on the internet. Hopefully i can get down to where i need to be. Alot of people are trying diet pills and weight loss product but are these thing healthy?

There are thousands of free workout videos on youtubes and other sites. You should also check out the sites for the fitness magazines because they always have work out plans for a variety of equipment or none at all

I would also suggest checking into seeing what type of things your community offers. I know several places here offer free workout classes and the community centers offer access to the cardio machines and weights for a very low price( $1 per visit or $10 a month)

I always thought no matter your age or gender,  you should do some exercise at least three times a week or more.

Over the years I've cut out excersize ideas out of magazines and made my own book, I kid you not, for the first time in my life I've worked out monday through friday for the past 7 months and I am just now getting to the end of the list, then it's back to the beginning.  I am seeing results and I can't wait to see what my body looks like this time next year.  I am already naturally skinny, I'm just trying to get fit.
