Meteor shower
« on: August 12, 2012, 02:34:20 pm »
Did anyone else watch the meteor shower last night? If so I hope you had better luck than I did. They said the best time to view it was in the predawn hours. Unfortunately for me the moon came up at about the same time the meteors started coming down.

Unfortunately I missed it. I need to pull up Youtube and see if anyone posted videos of it.

I went out and took a look around but I too came up dry as we had high clouds and no rain of course.

We had a bonfire and I didn't see a thing...took a midnight run out to a local gas station and saw one falling star.  Don't know that that was a part of the shower or not...doubt it.  The weather just didn't cooperate for us...we had to many clouds as well.

I think everyone should see at least one good meteor shower in their lifetime. When the conditions are just right they are spectacular. I was lucky enough to see a great one about 18 or so years ago. I was really hoping to repeat that experience this time but it just wasn't meant to be I guess. Maybe next time.  I'm sorry you all didn't have better luck with it than I did.

I sat out for several hours with my boyfriend and dad both Friday and Saturday. We saw a lot of them because we live in the country. Trees blocked a few but since we had taken lawn chairs and sat on the road we saw most of them. Best viewing time for me was between 3 and 4 am Saturday night/Sunday morning but I watched those alone as the boys had gone to bed. Counted 14 between 2:58 and 3:15 am. Loved it and watch every year!

I stood outside for a long time and only saw 2 or 3.  I was kinda disappointed.

Bummer, I didn't get to see it. I didn't realize there was one.  :-[

No, it's been very rainy here the past couple days (which is a good thing).  Guess I'll just have to wait for the Orionids in October.

I did not see anything.  I went out at 4:30 am when I got up and I stood there a few minutes and didn't see a single one.  Oh well, maybe next time.  Hope everyone has a nice day and may God bless each of you.
