Kids with Bi-polar,ADHD,PTSD & SSI

Does anyone have a child with Bi-polar that qualified for SSI, my daughter has Bi-polar,SEVERE ADHD,PTSD (Post traumatic Stress Disorder),Anxiety.. She got denied should i reapply and keep fighting or am i wasting my time? She is 8 on 3 diff meds, been in a psyc ward 3 times since 5  NO BASHING just some imput please!!

I am VERY sorry to hear that. I do feel for you.
My suggestion would be to possibly seek out other opinions from other doctors; check the internet and ask for advice there. You may just get lucky and fall into the right hands.
I am sure it must be very difficult for you.

My aunt has a son with the same condition as you daughter, she receives social security on him and I think you should reapply for straight social security, not for SSI they are different trust me I have learned this from everyone around me.  Go get a lawyer and the social security one's are normally free and they will fight your case for you.  I wish you the best of luck.

I am not a child I am 24 but I have depression and ptsd and I survive one SSI.I would reapply but I would get help from a doctor and a social worker to help get more documuntation

Im going through the same thing for my son. He is ADHD, ODD And he has asthma. He's on a machine and the inhaler. He sees a psychiatrist on a regular, he takes medication for his ADHD & asthma. He also  been diagnosed with MONO. Mono is more serious than I though it was once I did my research. He had MONO twice already. Usually of the time pneumonia follows MONO. He's about to start going to speech therapy, becuase his words come out like he's 5 or 6 years old and he's 10. i applied for SSI also for him, and they denied him. We have to keep appealing it and get a lawyer. Im looking for a lawyer to represent his case. I think that's just a process for them to deny everyone for as long as they can. If she is that severe then I would reapply. It could help you with her therapy and such. My oldest gets SSI she's Autistic with a severe speech delay.

Definitely re-apply-- almost EVERYONE gets turned down the first time, and remember, when someone gets accepted, the payment is retroactive to the original application date-- so it's a big chunk of change. A friend of mine has a son on SSI who sounds a lot like your daughter-- it took a year to get him on, but when all was said and done the first check was almost 8000.00-- and it really helped out. I know from first hand experience how expensive some conditions can be, even with insurance and government health care etc-- every dollar counts.

I feel for you-- my older son had ADHD and an oppositional defiance disorder-- and that alone was hack on wheels. I'll keep you and yours in my thoughts :-)

Yes you should reapply and get a lawer, they only get a sit amount for representing you, and that come out of the check before you get it.

yea but in denying a person means they don't find then eligible in the first place.  I know it sounds stupid but you have to be strong and if you want to win get a social security lawyer because he can do it all for you and you chances of winning are very high.  The great thing about the social security lawyer is if you win he takes his portion from your check, if you loose you don't have to pay then at all.  Not to mention you will get a back pay check from the time you applied so if you have to wait 3 years to get it for your son, that is just 3 years worth of back pay they owe you.  I wish you the best of luck, may god be with you and your family.
