I have found that Aleve works the best for me.  I think it depends on the person.

I get a prescription for migrains but when I run out and can't get back to the pharmacy I eat black olivis and while at home get it has dark as I can to I can get rid of the migrain.  I found out from someone who used that and so I gave it a try, I don't know about you but I can feel one comming out so I start eating the olives and buy extra olives all the time when I go to the store so I always have them on hand but you have to start the olives at the begins ok.

Excedrin Migraine is a good choice.  I get bad headaches too and find this works.

What do the black olives do for you? I have some real bad migraines. I am willing to try anything.

Excedrin (extra strength) is the best, but they excedrin off the market, Im not sure if they brought it back yet. I'll be so glad when they do, because I suffer from migraines alot.

Drink plenty of water. Avoid caffeinated drinks. Old-fashioned aspirin works better than other over the counter remedies.

I have seen Alka-Seltzer recommended because it contains a painkiller and starts to work instantly.  Sometimes I will take 2 Tylenol, 2 ibuprofen and 2 aspirin.  Excedrin or equivalent works well but sometimes makes me nauseated as it contains caffeine.  Caffeine in coffee and cola doesn't bother me, so I don't know why Excedrin makes me sick.  I've been a nurse for a long time.  I've had the occasional migraine where I wanted to just shoot myself.  Once I got off replacement hormones after menopause, the headaches decreased significantly.

Ask your doctor. White Willow Bark Extract, but again ask your doctor. This is where Bayer started. The extract has less side effects if you have no allergies. I also drink the tea and mint, but you would need gallons for a headache. When I lifted weigths, I learned this from the other weight lifters who did not take drugs. All nature pain killers.

i agree with the people who said excedrin - but it's true
that they took it off the market  :sad1:

excedrin had more caffeine and acetaminophen than most
other medicines. look for those two ingredients together
in another medicine (off-brands of excedrin, and some
types of aleve have it, i've found).

[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]

I would suggest like someone else said, try taking a nap first. Sometimes it will ease the pain and the headache will be gone when you wake up. I usually take extra stength tylenol and it works great. It depends on your body tolerance, and only you know what you can handle. Hope it gets better for you!

If you know what's causing your headache that would help you in finding/doing something for them. Like with me I get sinus headaches, the pressure in my head. And with that I usually don't have to do anything but a saline rinse and it goes away.
