A few years ago they went into my place and cleaned me out. Autrographed records ( i worked in Santa Fe) and had quites a collection, The guns a friend had left there for safe keeping . (Yeah right) a set of china. All of my sons games.  and anything thing else they wanted. If it fit through a window in the back they took it. I am glad i hadn't brought home my sons new stero system. It was stored at another friends house. It is the worst feeling in the world.

Do you know if those are in order?  Cause I find it hard to believe that more bikes are stolen than electronic accessories.  Not that any of it is ok.  Just surprising.  I wonder how people get to the place that they can justify taking something that isn't theirs.  Think no one ever told them it was wrong?  I mean, how do you justify that?

I would imagine that bikes are number one because most often they are outside.  A thief doesn't have to enter a house to get one, he can just grab and go.

This is discouraging. I was thinking tablets would be directly named, but I guess they're bunched up now with other electronics. I remember hearing the horror stories of people's stolen iPads when they first hit the market. One story in particular has stuck in my mind about a person's whose own skin from his hand/fingers was ripped as he was holding the tablet so tight when the thief wrestled this from him.

It really is disheartening that there are people who think nothing of stealing from others.  Unfortunately, if something doesn't break with our economy and job growth, I think more people will resort to this kind of thing.

My first flat screen tv 37' vizio was stolen from my home. It saddened me because my husband (RIP2009)bought that for both of us for x-mas; it was our first high tech tv ever for both of us. :( :'( :crybaby2: :peace:

I was just looking, but saw that my Apple Computer is at risk, but, mine is old so the thieves probably wouldn't want it...

Where did you get this list?  Some of it makes since because it is pretty easy to steal a bike etc.  But I can't help but question the list since money wasn't in the top ten.

people need to get a job

Although I agree that stealing is a problem, and that it is wrong to do so, suggesting that the only way to not have to steal is to get a job is rather closed-minded. There are millions of other ways to make money to be able to buy these things without getting a job. There for it is incorrect to tell others they "need" to get a job.

What about people who don't need these things (and other expensive stuff)? Anyone can survive without any of these things that are on the list and to suggest that those who steal have to get a job is although on solution to there problems so is realizing they don't need these or other things to begin with.

Basic necessities are not that hard to come by, and its easy to either work or make enough money to pay for your basic expenses without a lot of effort. Its pressure from people like you that gets them to follow the american dream of "Get a job, buy a bunch of stuff you don't need, raise a family you can't afford to raise, buy a house you can't afford to buy, live in debt and be a slave for the rest of your life."
