I'd wait until she was old enough to be able to sit still and sit through the process.  I'd say around 10.

i hope your daughter is the one that wants it and your not making the decision yourself. and even if she was ten i wouldnt let my daughter do it until shes at least 13

I'd actually suggest not getting a perm, my hair is reallly curly and I straighten it every day. Straight hair is really in style now.

i'd say that's about right.
i started dying my hair when i was around 9ish.
my mama talked it over with me (several times) to make sure i understood what i was doing ;p and finally i convinced her that it was what i really wanted. i think anything younger than 9 or 10 would most likely be a little too young for something like that..

Ugh. I got a perm when I was thirteen and it was the worst thing I've ever done to my hair. A summer of frizz. I think your daughter should be at least sixteen. You don't want to start messing with your hair too young so that it'll be dead by time you're thirty. Well, it's already dead, but you get the point.

If she is an African American child, try to hold off on the perm as long as you can.  If it's to manage the hair, use a very light perm (just for me or something like that) and only perm it every couple of months.
