There is too much bad language in movies. Can't these writers come up with something more creative. :angry7:

I agree.  An English teacher I had once said "Profanity is used by people who are too ignorant of the English language to use proper language."

I agree. I think if they'd cut out all the cuss words, the movie/program will be half as long! I don't think the bad language contributes anything towards the storyline of the movie at all.

Just because you might not think such words do not contribute to the story doesn't mean they should be cut out. Give me an objective measurement of word effectiveness and I'll take your argument seriously. Cuss words have just as much of a place in our language as any other word, since context has everything to do with meaning.

Cuss words don't make a boring script, overusing anything makes a boring script. Don't blame bad writing on cuss words, since bad writing can result from the use of any words.

I prefer watching movies without all of the filthy language in them.  Some curse words cheapen a movie and just make it disgusting, especially when used over and over.  Even in some tv shows and family-type shows.

One example:  We enjoy Jeff Dunham, with all of his puppets.  They are hilarious!  A couple of them cuss - it seems like you can't see much of anything with out some cussing in them.  However, in later years, he has gotten stronger with some of the curse words with a couple of the puppets.  It's to the point with some viewers, that it is getting disgusting.

I don't understand why some actors think the more they cuss, the better the movie.  For me, it's the opposite.  But that's just my opinion.

The bad language doesn't bother me nearly as much as the lousy movies they're making these days.  Boy, there's "B" movies and today, there's "F" movies.  No creativity or imagination beyond the great "computer animations" or special effects.  A lot of movies are remakes of movies from years ago, simply because the special effects make it better.  The writers are horrible - no story lines, or super LAME story lines.  It's a rare occasion I spend $10 to go see a movie.  They're simply not worth it, in my opinion.

I can live with a little bad language is it fits with the character or the action in a movie. But if there are 500 F-words in the first 15 minutes, its gets very old, very fast.

Our family was just discussing this afternoon how the selection of movies has changed at our one theater in the little bit bigger town than ours.  Right now, most of the movies offered are "R" rated, and not very receptive to the people.  The Hobbit was removed from the offerings.  The only other lower rated one is 'Parental Guidance,' in which stars a young lady that we have enjoyed watching for several years.  You made a good point about the horrible writing.

I hope the movie industry realizes that bad language does not a movie make. But in todays society, there are words that everyone speaks, so.... where do you go. More, less, over the top, for me if the language is so bad it ruins the movie for me. I like the old movies where they hint at sex or lets fu.... or whatever. Naked is better when you see them getting Naked vs seeing them Naked.  The imagination is better and leaves room for ..... Well, it is the same with violence, I will get off my soap opera for now.

Having taken a few writing courses, the real key would be "Would this character use strong language in real life if he or she were talking?"  If so, it's not very credible to write their dialogue without any such language, even if it may offend some people.  If it offends you, I think there's a slew of wholesome, family oriented programming channels out there for you to watch.  Realistic characters and a well written plot are essential to films and TV shows.

I think the glut of re-makes is just the studios trying to piggyback on what's been successful in the past in terms of making money.  They probably think it's less of a business risk than original films.

I not a big critic of bad language, yet I agree that common vulgar language is used too much in movies.

I use a system called clearplay.  It's a dvd player with a filter stick that you pay for (not much) and it cleans up the movies.  Don't want to hear swearing? Don't want to see nudity?  Excessive violence?  It has 3 levels and you can make it the way you want it at any time.  I love it! If you look into it and want to do it, please say Dan Reid referred you and we get bonus months service!  Thanks!!!

No, because bad language sells, Sex sells, Violence sells, its undeniably true. Hollywood wouldn't exist if it didn't evolve. I think you should just watch other movies if it offends you so much.....

Does it cut out so much that the film no longer makes sense anymore?  I'm thinking of something like Django Unchained.  If you cut out the violence and bad language in that one, you'd end up with a five minute extended trailer and not a movie lol.
