Just some thoughts...

So I just got a permission slip from my son's school for his first field trip.  He is in Pre-K and the trip is to attend a "Food Play" at a nearby college.  I know for sure that I will not be sending him on this trip as he does not really sit still for very long.  He also got a notice for three other school trips in the following three weeks - a farm, a pizzeria and a theatre in the park.  I am not sure if I am being overprotective or if it's the voices of my family members telling me he is too young but I am beginning to question whether I should let him go to any of the trips.  On one hand, I want him to socialize and have fun with his friends and on the other hand, there has been so many things happening in the news lately that it is making me wonder whether it is safe or not to let him go.  I guess my question is for everyone's general opinion on the subject so that I can come to a conclusion.....

Maybe it's just me but I've always regretted not going on trips when I was younger
but then maybe he's too young for it to really make a difference anyway.

I would let him go, and if you could go along as a chaperone, that is even better.  I attended a few of my daughter's field trips.  When I was on the bus, along with the teacher, all the students behaved a bit better.  I have students quite well behaved when a teacher's assistant or volunteer sits amongst the children.

If you want him to go, why don't you volunteer and goo too? They can always use the help.

I do understand your concern in light of recent events. If you are able why don't you volunteer and go with them on a couple of the trips. I do beleive he should go when possible and will be fine . I was a preschool teacher for years and loved bring ing children to new places and also loved it when parents volunteered and joined us.

Definitely let him go because it will be a valuable learning experience for him.  However, you should volunteer to go along too.  Children that young love it when a parent comes along on field trips.  I am so glad I volunteered and went on several field trips with my son when he was small.

Pre-K seems pretty young for so many field trips,IMO.It's not like he's gonna remember any life lessons at that age from these trips.If you have any misgivings,I'd say listen to them.

i would let him go. he needs to be a kid and not be sheltered by mom. he will ask u later why he didnt go and ur gonna feel guilty.

i would let him go on 2 trips - the ones that would be
the most educational and the ones that aren't going to
suppress him and his active lifestyle. maybe the theaters
and plays aren't the best idea for him.

Let him go.  What will happen will happen you don't have much control over other people's actions.  Trust that the school or daycare has experience and knows how to handle it.
