SWKSTUDENT give a great answer, I believe that the younger generation will not keep this ignorance going. I am counting on all you younger generation to have Love  peace :peace:and Harmony :angel12: :angel11:  Racism :BangHead: against a wall

Thank you, I think the younger generation has been taught over and over again that racism is wrong so that will have an impact. However when I go on social media sites like youtube and twitter I see so many racist comments, its really sad but like you I hope each generation improves racial relations.

This is a loaded question.  Racism is still alive and well in some cultures.  I believe that we should love everybody.  And remember, when you take the coating off, we look the same.  Pigmentation is what makes color. :peace: :peace: :peace:

This is true but also think we have to learn to respect differences not only in terms of pigment but culture.

I really dislike laws that have explicit racism in them. For example, I dislike all of the so called "hate crime" laws... If a person is murdered, the severity of the punishment should not rely on whether the perpetrator held some stereotypic hatred towards their victim; the more serious of the crime is that a person was killed, so the punishment should be attributed to that crime. I can see it being used to define the intent of the killer, whether they should be charged with 1st degree murder or just a felony manslaughter charge. But other than that, it shouldn't matter when assigning punishment. We don't give bank robbers extra punishment if they hold the belief that the banking system is corrupt, so why should a killer be punished extra for their misguided beliefs, whatever they may be.

You don't get it do you?
Beating a man up on the street to steal his money and beating a man up in the street because he is gay, black, or Arabic is the same thing to you?

The world is not perfect so we need to stop looking at the color of people's skin, and begin looking at their qualifications - as a human being, and as a potential employee... we just have to do the best that we can do...

Racism is embedded in laws that require people of different races to be hired to fill quotas. Racism is embedded in laws that make certain acts hate crimes. Both of these are wrong in my opinion. Laws that constantly draw attention to our different races make the problem stay alive in our country. Regardless of race, a person should be hired, or tried of a crime, based on the facts and not on their skin color. It drives me crazy. This problem is only magnified by people who think they are owed something by the government, or country, or other races, or whatever. And no, I am not racist. I look down on all races who take advantage of their situation and use others, without working or trying to better their lives for themselves.

Yes, I do believe racism is still embedded in the laws.  The more they try to make the races "equal", the more they make them disadvantaged.
Have a wonderful day!

Actually reverse racism is embedded in the laws currently. Companies are not allowed to hire employees based on their qualifications, but they have to meet quotas and hire based on race and color. Government works the same way.
Real racism occurs in schools. Instead of making sure that all students, no matter what their race, receive a good education, it is automatically assumed that blacks won't score as high on tests as whites, so the tests are adjusted to compensate. If you have a white kid and a black kid (or hispanic, or whatever) in the same class, there is no reason why the black kid doesn't have just as good a chance at passing the test as the white kid. Are they trying to imply that skin color somehow affects the brain or something? I think that is very insulting, and racist.
in 1985, Motley Crue, a hard rock band that was supposedly "Satanic", in their song "Fight For Your Rights"  had these lyrics: "Martin Luther brought the truth, the colour of our blood's the same so break the chains and solve the pains and we all become one race". through the years, Slayer also spoken on racism, lead singer Tom Araya being from Chile and Dave Lombardo being from Cuba. due to Jeff Hannemann's (RIP) *bleep* memorabilia collecting, people thought they were racist. Pantera, another heavy metal band, which does not exist anymore, due to the death of Darrell Lance Abbott (Dimebag), had a song on their 1992 album "Vulgar Display of Power" titled "No Good (Attack the Radical)", and in 1989, the Beastie Boys in their song "Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun" had these lyrics: "racism is schism on a serious tip", and who can forget En Vogue's "Free Your Mind"? if they are still around, they are EV3 now.

the real reason for rascism is that people have evil in there heart, if they let God in all those hateful ways will leave them, so i have no worries God has got me covered and, no evil can touch me.  you all can have the same thing.  come to jesus.

thank u southerhorizons! y should a black or a mexican or a white even get any money to go to school cus of their race if we are all equal... i hate minorities getting things for free it makes no sense this isnt slave days if u wanted be treated equal then stop getting stuff we dont... also y should nfl teams have to interview a black coach or whatever? its so dumb... if i dont want to hire somebody why should i waste my time... i bet if obama was white he would of never been president or got all the support he has... in a 100 years hell probably just be rmeembered as the black president... and i hate how if somone makes one little racist joke everyone blows it out of porportion... same as gay jokes...

There shouldn't be "jokes" that insult entire groups of people in the first place. If you don't feel the need to make a joke about heterosexuals or Caucasians then you shouldn't feel the need to make them about homosexuals or any other ethnicity.

Explain why you do or don't.
in the mid-50's to early-60's, African-Americans weren't allowed near Caucasian facilities. one man changed all that: Martin Luther King Jr.
several rock bands are against racism:
1. Motley Crue-on their 1985 album Theatre of Pain, the last song "Fight For Your Rights" contained the lyrics "Martin Luther brought the truth the colour of our blood's the same, so break the chains, and solve the pains, and we all become one race"
2. Slayer is against racism. many of their songs spoke out against it.
3. Beastie Boys, on their 1989 album Paul's Boutique, in the song "Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun" , contained the lyrics "racism is schism on a serious tip"
4. En Vogue, on their 1992 album "Funky Divas" had the song "Free Your Mind"
5. Rap in the late 1980's to mid-90's was never about race. Jay-Z, Kanye West, and other "rappers" of today use the "N" word.
6. Pantera also was against racism when they were around. on their album "Vulgar Display of Power", they had a song called "No Good (Attack the Radical)"
don't get me wrong, the rap of yesterday was way better than the "rap" of today. granted, some of the rappers of yesteryear used some trash talk, but none of them disgraced their own kind.
someone explain what "reverse racism" is.

someone explain what "reverse racism" is.

Reverse racism occurs when laws that are supposed to help minorities, actually discriminate against the majority, in essence becoming racism in its own right. It really shouldn't be a term because racism is racism, regardless of who it is against. One example is when businesses have set quotas on how many people of any given race have to be employed. If they have to have a set percentage of let's say Hispanics, then all Caucasians, African Americans, Asians, etc. have no chance at the job. That is discrimination. Another example is when colleges and universities feel they have to admit a certain percentage of minorities, so they do not even give the majority a chance. The list goes on, but that is reverse racism in a nutshell. As I said, it really should be included under all racism and discrimination, instead of being defined as "reverse".

what was the kind of racism that Miles was talking about in "The Animal"?

Yes, that part of the movie is poking fun at reverse discrimination. If I remember correctly, as soon as Miles takes the blame, then the issue is dropped because he is black. People are too afraid to punish the black man because of the threat discrimination.

I do believe it is.  I also feel like this "politically correct" agenda is slowly becoming one of America's downfalls.  Schools need to teach the basic Reading, Writing, and Math, so our kids have a stronger foundation of those subjects while continuing on through the school years.  Some school systems need to stop "teaching" the end of year achievement tests, and delve back into the curriculum.

I agree with the one who said something to the effect of companies which are supposed to hire, based on qualifications, but instead, some are hiring based on race, which they would never admit to, along with other things.

I know this part isn't racism, where some are judged rather unfairly by weight - I've seen people deliberately not chosen, even though well qualified, because they don't "look" the part - it seems many who are overweight are also deliberately skipped over, and that's wrong.  This new issue about "obesity" and overweight people, is nothing but labeling and stereotyping, at best.  Not every overweight person is procrastinating about his/her diet, including exercising, etc.  Many have health issues, including thyroid problems, breathing/respiratory problems, being on steroids/prednisone often because of inflammation from other health issues, like asthma, arthritis, etc., and aren't being given a fair opportunity to prove their qualifications for the job they are putting in for.

Also many companies are guilty of wanting to rid the companies of the "seasoned" older employees, even though many know the ropes from the bottom to the top.  Instead, more young people are being brought in, and placed in management positions, because many of them can be hired at a lower salary than the "seasoned" employees.  Also many young ones know nothing about the way the company works, from the bottom positions to the top.  Many only look at how many "numbers" have to be attained, instead of understanding each job position is different, and are not all necessarily ones that can go by the higher quotas, as others do.  And when pushed, some employees skip steps, or take shortcuts, or "cheat" the customers from receiving the best quality work, which then cause a new set of problems.

All some of the younger ones see, is that some employees can't "keep up" and are either let go, or "urged" to take an early buyout, or "urged" to resign, or demoted.  This is very unfair to those employees who know what they are doing, and think of the customer's needs, and give quality work, products, services, etc., to them.

Sorry for rambling and going off of the topic some.  This is a great question you have posted.  :)

Good question!!! Although you may want to consider that "racism" and "law" are 2 very relative terms and often misread and misunderstood. In either case, at the end of the day.... they're just IDEAS that are given the power and illusion of "truth" by everyone's AGREEMENT and PARTICIPATION... much like the radio station telling you which song is the "best" on the charts!!!

EXAMPLE: The radio station (media) presents the "idea" that this new song is "the greatest" by playing it over and over and superimposing their "opinionated reviews" of them.... we listen.... and if it actually has a "catchy" enough tune... we'll just AGREE without any rebuttal... or at the least... we wont call them up in mass numbers demanding that they never play that again!!! Or how about even demanding that they VERIFY(validate with first hand knowledge) that this song is indeed the "best"... or be held LIABLE for a false claim(fraud) to the public...?

When you're presented with an IDEA... how do you respond to it...? Do you demand verification and validation... or do you just BLINDLY ACCEPT what "sounds" correct...? You have to be RESPONSIBLE with your own affairs as a man or woman... or be incompetent and subject to SOMEONE ELSE'S IDEAS and RULES!!!

RESPONSIBLE = RESPONSE-ABLE as in ABLE TO RESPOND!!!

I know... a song isn't that important... but the same equation applies to ANY IDEA "presented to you" by some third party(outside influence).... like "racism" or what you "should be doing" as a species in general!!! The problem is NOT the actual IDEA itself.... the problem is in how we(the people) RESPOND when they are presented!!!

As far as these "laws" go.... they're just simply NOT actual LAW!!! They are corporate codes, statues, and policies!!! Any corporate business can create and maintain these.... even the local boy/girl scouts!!! lol.

Keep in mind.... that terms like "white"... "black"... "latino"... "minority"...etc... are all just LABELS and as long as we see ourselves(gods creations)... as these LABELS(corporate creations)... we will continue to be SUBJECT TO all the "rules" and "consequences" that go along with them good or bad!!!
