I understand, what I ment is that America's judgment is getting weirder, those politicians w bad reputations should never tried to run a 2nd time if they have a clear head on their shoulders and know that a good politician must set a good example! If people handled Paula Deans situation very cruelly then the same goes for those cheaters! I still love Paula deans cooking

Politicians who have public scandals are more than free to run a 2nd time if they want, just like Paula Deen is more than free to search out other sponsors. While she's lost a great deal, she has, I believe, 7 sponsors still left.

I agree that sometimes there is a double standard to how the press will harass some celebrities but turn a blind eye to what a politician does, esp. if the politician is for the party the press endorses. For example, very little was ever mentioned (esp. 30+ years later) about how Robert Byrd was a member of the KKK, filibustered against the 1964 Civil Rights while in the Senate, and voted against the only 2 black Supreme Court nominees. If his views could change so drastically in 30+ years, couldn't Paula's views also change in that amount of time? I actually agree with Rev. Al Sharpton on this issue; not to judge a person on what they may have said 20+ years ago, but rather judge them on their current actions and statements (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/24/al-sharpton-paul-deen_n_3491440.html).

That isn't quite accurate... She stated that she wanted to host a wedding dinner in the style of a vintage Southern plantation (complete with black men dressed in black suits with bow-ties, as the slave servers / butlers would have done in those days). The idea was not that she wished to go back to those times, but rather was trying to re-enact a wedding dinner in the Southern past down to the smallest detail. It's a difference between artistic expression of a historical event vs. wanting to actually bring back slave servers for every service at her restaurant. I'd also condemn her if she wanted to treat the servers poorly like the slaves of the past, but if it's only having them dress in the style, then I see it as just a themed dinner. It's the same as historians / history buffs wanting to re-enact Civil War battles complete with having Confederate soldiers and even segregated black military companies. You shouldn't condemn those re-enactors for wanting to show the battles in the style as they would have been fought, without having the motivations of those days to actually keep slavery.

This is just another case of Political Correctness gone wild.  Fact is, she's a very liberal woman who voted for Obama BOTH times so I don't see why she's so surprised at what the outcome of all of this was.  The other fact is, racism is alive and well, whether you're black or white, and being politically correct and reversing the roles isn't going to make it better.  If anything, it's making it worse.  Words are just that, words.  We hear those words in many of today's music and nobody's going berserk over it.  If those words are so wrong, why are we allowing our children to listen to the crap they call music that contains those words?  Isn't that wrong??  Why is it acceptable for your children to hear those words in music and grow up thinking they ARE those words?  Isn't that wrong?

Everybody i guess is getting on the bandwagon with this. Something that happened 30 years ago, So lets all go back and dig up all the racial slures heaped on the white peope and is stil going on. Some races need to grow up. I have been called i think every nasty name in the book. Just because i wouldn't  serve drinks to drunks in a bar to catching those that were stealing in a retail company i worked for. Or for telling them to get off of my property , when they were defacing it. They called   me a lot of nasty names and would not leave so jut stepped back inside and got the shot gun, I felt i was in danger. After they left i called the cops and when we went to court they called me a lot of other names when i had to get up and point them out.  Oh did i mention they were black and latino. Hum wnder how much the govt. would do to them . Just what the courts did, Slapped their hands and let them go. Wasn't og and they were back in jail again.

Racism is horrible and ugly, however, I don't think a lot of people understand what it is like to grow up white in the South.  I grew up in a small town in the 70's.  Racism speech was a way of life.  I moved there from Indiana, so it wasn't something I was used to, but I grew up hearing it outside my home.  I knew the difference because I was not born and raised there, but the people I went to school with did not know.  It is horrible and ugly and now they are adults and should know better, but if you are raised by racists and taught that way, how can you expect the child to know differently.

It's is hard to outgrow what is ingrained into you.  I think those people who grew up in that culture but try to overcome those beliefs and straighten out their thinking deserve a break here and there when their old recording playback unchecked in the their head.  I don't know what effort Paula Deen has made to fix the things she was taught as a young girl, but I know it is not easy to completely change if you have been brainwashed.

This comment reflects what I was thinking most accurately. It does because of this statement, "the press will harass some celebrities but turn a blind eye to what a politician does, esp. if the politician is for the party the press endorses." Not only that, details were provided to back it up.

It's my opinion that both major parties are corrupt, especially when you get high up into the upper levels. You just have the right friends, make some kind of secret oath, and as long as you don't betray them, your secret is safe...

I really don't know the whole story. In other words is this behavior recent, still recent, or some events that happened over 20 years ago. And yes,you have Weiner and I forget the other Politician running for office without embarrassment? Where Does Paula Dean rate? Can she not be forgiven too?  I just don't know, I think the media is pushing this with certain interest groups. Propaganda anyone?
