Facebook Friends vs real friends
« on: September 16, 2013, 07:51:50 am »
How many of your Facebook friends are your friends in real life? I have a lot of Facebook friends that I've never met, mostly because of money-making programs and the like. I don't really have any close friends in real life, and my casual friends aren't on Facebook. But I guess it's just as well, because most of my free time I spend online anyway.

I have a few real friends on facebook that I know and see.Ialso have friends who I've never met strange I know not even sure how I became friends. One gal I haven't seen since high school almost 30 yrs .Some I guess were friend requests from that I excepted. I like facebook for the news and freebies and other things. My daughter also puts pick of my grandson so I think that is the main reason I go to see and also animal pics.

Unfortunately, my experience has told me that Facebook is full of acquaintances, not friends. Friendship, to me, is more than liking a post and IM when you need something from someone else. It is unfortunate in my opinion that the wave of social media has replaced the ability to have personal contact with people: face to face interactions. I think society as a whole is a bit too self-absorbed and Facebook plays into that. People need connection with others and it seems like there is less of that today...kinda sad.

I have family and "real" friends on Facebook.  Most of my "real" friends live in other states.  Facebook is how I keep in touch with them.  For the most part, I would say my other "friends" are just acquaintances that we all have something in common with.

Most of facebook friends are people I know in real life. I went through a phase where I would friend people from online programs but then I realized they access to all my info in my life and family and friends . I wasnt comfortable with that because unless you meet people you never know what else they are thinking and could become stalkers.its happened to me more than once

I know every person on my facebook, but some are more casual friends, or people I know through others, but I don't accept anyone I don't actually know. I do not have very many really close friends, but the few I do are my Church family, they are the best!!

Almost all of my friends and family are on facebook. Some of them are like brothers and sisters and we can talk about anything. If i don't know some one i usually don't accept them as friends.

I have met more than 2/3 of them. Lol But to actually call them my friends that I hangout with and rely on.. probably only a handful.

I really don't share personal information on Facebook. I use it more for money-making programs, and general chatting, and sharing interesting things I find. So I don't mind "friending" people I don't really know. Although when I get friend requests, I usually check out their profile, rather than just blindly hitting the accept button.

Yes, that's the way I feel too. It's rather unfortunate that the Facebook label is "friends." Real friends are becoming a thing of the past.
