houses becoming restaurants
« on: October 03, 2013, 06:41:16 am »
I have been to two restaurants that used to be houses. I think it's pretty cool.
I also know that there are senior living complexes that used to be colleges.

I use to feel like my house was a restaurant when my daughter was still at home.  There were always kids in and out of the house especially around dinner time!  It was hectic during that time but I sure miss the chaos now that they all grew up.
Have a wonderful day!

that is nice everyone enjoys the setting of a home cooked meal. I have seen a few cafes that are also like this.

Almost reminds me of that commercial where they confuse the house for a restraunt bahahhaa!. "Take these to table 6.. You mean the ottomon?" XD

I think the restraunt houses are unique. They always start out that way and end up bigger in the end.
Sometimes you see them stay as the little restraunt house and only hire family. So they keep it a family
Restraunt. Tehehe. I love food... If i get rich i will deffinetly turn my house into a taco bell end of.. A taco bell only for me :p

Totally cool! We have a few restaurant/bar conversions in Colorado.  We have two houses that were changed into one restaurant called Cuba-Cuba which serves some spectacular Mojitos and Tres Leches cake. We have a French Restaurant named Le Central that serves a fantastic array of mussels-formerly a house.  We two houses and a automobile garage that was converted into a college pizza bar with cheap/good wine and excellent garlic, pizza knots. On a slightly creepier side there is a church that was converted into a night club called The Church!  It has four or five floors that play different genres of music (reggae, techno, jazz, dance, rock)-pretty cool.

There's an older historic home down the street from me that's been converted to a restaurant called the GARDEN HOUSE.  My son and I had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner there last year.

Have a great day!

never seen that, but to me it is the good food, not where they are.

If life gives you lemons...make lemonade! The economy is so bad in some parts of the world that this conversion is the only way to survive. It is  ideal for the homeless because this gives them the sense of belonging to a family or the community. And this type of business is usually profitable because so many people are going to use it.

That is a great way to keep things from being torn down and instead is preserving some building's and homes. :)

I guess that is the ultimate recycle! Reuse and reinvent! What a great idea. I wonder if the structure fades off into the business. Does the restaurant feel like a house or look like one from the inside? I can see dorm rooms used as separate living quarters, but what about the science labs and auditorium classrooms? Unique rebuild

I haven't had the pleasure, but certainly look forward to trying one if I get the opportunity.  I love mom and pop places, so it sounds very nice.  :D

I've noticed that especially in the Northeast. When I go to Visit my Father in law in NJ, he has a place that he likes to go to called "Our House". They have a good menu but, it is a little high for my taste.

I hope the right people see this post. It is valuable to save these homes for seniors or even recent homeless nurses. What about the nuns who got kicked out?  Good idea.  :angel11:
