If you had million dollars what would you do?

I would put half in the bank, help my family with their some of their bills after I pay mine off, and go on about three cruises.

Probably most if not all of it would go into credit unions in $90,000 increments so that it's covered if the bank is robbed or something.  I would probably go out and buy a decent smartphone cause the one I currently have works only like 2% of the time, which is fine currently but I'd love to be able to make a phone call whenever I want to, not if the phone will let me. 

If I find a job, I might use some of the money to get an apartment/house/condo closer to the job, but that depends on the location and if my parents don't need me any more.

If I had a million dollars I would start my own non profit organization, and dedicate my time to helping the less fortunate. This has always been my dream.

I would give 10% to my church. Pay off my bills. Buy a home and vehicle and donate to a charity. Then put back the rest for my kids.

I could do many things such as pay tithe on it. Then I would pay off all my bills, buy a small home, set aside a fund for college for my son and then I would help a friend. It is fun to day dream. Maybe someday it will happen, but until then I'll have fun dreaming.

I'd buy a large piece of property and give a piece to each member of my family so we could all live close together.

First, give 10 percent to my church, then pay off all of my outstanding debts.....house, car, etc.

If I have a million dollar, I could pay of my debit first and then give some to my relative.  The rest I'll save and still move on with my daily life.

I think this is one of those situations that we can't accurately put ourselves in that mindset.  Of course we know basic things that everyone would do ie pay bills etc.  but I really don't think any of us really know what we would do.

I can't recall the person that said it, might have been Will Rogers or W.C. Fields or someone of that ilk when asked what he did with his wealth; " I spent it on Wine, Women, and Song, the rest I just wasted..."

What a pleasant thought/subject! I am assuming you mean what we would do if given a million dollars-tax free.  I would follow suit on a lot of what the other posts have said.  I would take care of my children's college-first and foremost which I am estimating to be around three hundred thousand dollars. I wouldn't pay off my house because I would need the tax break and my interest rate is pretty darn low. I would three hundred and fifty thousand dollars (invest half of the remaining seven hundred thousand dollars) in a slightly aggressive investment, two hundred and fifty thousand dollars in a conservative investment and keep one hundred thousand in liquid investments.

In todays' world a million dollars doesn't go very far.  But I definitely would give something to help others and not to a church, because I have found that the biggest sinners, liars are in church yet hasn't changed their mindset.
