When I grew a large pot of catnip plants, my cat would lay on the plants.  But still I don't what it did.

You know I like the way they named that plant. Catnip! Where can I find that plant?
I don't know that is a cat plant. I watched this Disney channel with my girls they are under 10 years old and they are really ThinkerBell fan and that were I saw the catnip plant that those little thinkers used to calm that cat that trying to get... I wondered if it has any sense".
I pet your cat likes it very much ah".

Just depends on the cat.  Some have no reaction, some a mild reaction, and I've seen one that would stick his head in the catnip plant for hours and have seizure-like whole-body shaking from it.

I purchased one of those scratchy boards for my catch to scratch its' claws on. The manufacturer added a little bit of catnip that was suggested that you sprinkle over the board to add some interest. My cat was interested in the board, but not the catnip, worse, I manage to spill a whole load over the floor and then I had to spend 20 minutes sweeping it up - it went everywhere. So my contact wih catnip was not good.

Yes Catnip does make most cats a little goofy.

I have two cats who react totally opposite when it comes to catnip.  One gets high from one sniff, the other one eats it and walks away like it's no big deal.

Depends on the cat (as has already been pointed out). My friend's cat LOVEs the stuff and rubs in it and eats it. My cat could care less.

I think it does work. My sister has three cats and she puts catnip down near the beds and the cats stay away from the beds.

I have two cats and they both tend to go a bit crazy. They roll over and rub themselves on it.  Starting running back and forth. Then they just lay there next to it continuing to rub on it.
