Can People Get Kicked Out of Juries for Being Straight, White Males Now?

I just read about this case in court in California where they made a decision that a juror cannot be dismissed from a jury on account of him being gay, the same right given to women & 'minorities' (or 'coloreds' or 'non-whites'  ).

I'm too lazy to look up the law or court-decision right now ... is it so specific as to say that 'people can't be thrown out "because they're gay or women or a specific race",' or does it say that 'no regard is to be given to race, sex or genetic background at all'?
