Videos and odd warning
« on: February 27, 2014, 01:02:22 pm »
Videos aren't opening for one company and I also get this from other videos, but sooner or later I can do HyperMax videos. I did a print screen but for some reason it won't show here, so you'll just have to imagine these boxes:

The white box says:
"The page at alertfunctions.com says:
Please call 1 855 753 9334 for immediate support

The yellow box underneath the white box says:
WARNING! Windows may be infected with Adwaredropper32.com
Detect: Adware Dropper
Detect: W32 bundler
Detect: XSS Scripting.

Support Recommended
Call 1 855 753 9334 for immediate support!!!!!

These messages DO NOT appear on any other site that I visit. It does not appear on any other task I do on FC. It just appears on the videos currently available and HyperMax video. This just started happening in the beginning of the week and I'm thoroughly frustrated. I ran my virus; in fact, I run my virus twice a day. This still pops up all the time. I checked under my programs and downloads and there's nothing there.

Anyone else get this or know what it is?

Adware usually falls under the category of "trojans."  Do you have a malware scan software like Malwarebytes that you can run?  If not, you can download it here (choose the FREE version):  http://www.malwarebytes.org/

After spending all day trying to figure out what's going on, it turns out it's something through Google Chrome. Chrome is being very naughty because I can't find the extension anywhere to delete it. Now today, I'm getting a whole bunch of other crap from Chrome telling me to download Adobe something and FLV, and another flash player which I refuse for now until I check this stuff out.

Anyway, I put another question on their help forum and if I don't get an answer this time, I'm going to get rid of Chrome forever. It has me so disgusted but I so love the Speed Dial.

BTW, I have 2 programs I run for malware, viruses, and other problems that may pop up. i use IObit Advanced System Care software every day for the past 3 years and Speedy PC once a week. So I should be well protected.

This is what I used to help me get rid of the adware and it was all free. The site is http://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-adware-popup-ads/ and it gives you step by step instructions with pictures. Although, if you already have software downloaded, then you should be protected. If all else fails, you could still try this website and see if it helps.

Evidently it's no longer free but then again....I have no idea. I had asked the same question on the Chrome forum and they gave me the same answer. I clicked on the link and downloaded it, ran the scan, but then I had to register before it would do anything with the problems. Lo and behold, it cost me $39 and the program then was called SpyHunter.

I'm really in a bad mood lately over all this, because when I opened Chrome again, I got this stupid tab again which tells me "Webpage Not Found" and the following:

chrome-extension://glmfgahfleepmdfffonfckpmkondpdkg/index.html
Error code: ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND

Well, ran the new software yesterday. Had to videos to see if it did the job. Tried the first video that showed up today (LouAna Oils). Got the same warning, so evidently I paid for another junk program. Now to try to get my money back.   >:(

Like I said before, it only happens here on FC. So what's going on?

Alright.. Upon doing some googling.. It looks like most of this is virus and or trojan and or infection related.

You need to start writing down any programs installed recently
going back.. and scanning all of these programs with your virus protection... Then you need to look at your installed programs very very carefully.. Give about 3 to 4 glances over to make sure nothing is on your system that should not be on your system.. Make sure you did not recently install any toolbars and check all browsers for recently installed toolbars/ extentions.. Anything that seems out of place.. Sometimes things can sneak on your computer.. and even on your browser and you don't have any knowledge about them..

Although i never reccomend using Adblocker For videos.(because some video's require you to disable adblocker) I would Reccomend installing it.. and seeing if you get the same message.. The reason you want to do this.. Is to see if this is actually an ad in disguise trying to get you to download something..(i know this sounds weird...but has happened before to certain people) Sometimes testing theories can save you money, time, and frustration.

If none of this works.. You might want to get some better virus protection.. You can try anything from advanced system care, to cc cleaner, to avast. etc.. Anything you want.. Alot of the free ones are good to have and effective.. I use Advanced System Care..Because i prefer that one over most. not to say that you wouldn't try something else.. I would also reccomend you getting a malware protection as well..  Run both of these.. Doing a FULL SCAN.. That way it can go deep into your system... and remove infected files/programs.

If you are still getting this issue i would reccomend you calling the number.. See if they have any tips/tricks you can do that hasn't already been said or done that can help you..

Don't let it frustrate you.. SOmetimes you have to go through certain bad things to learn how to deal with them when they come in the future.. Also if anyone else has this problem one day you will be their hero if you find a solution! Tehe!

Also.. Do not ever buy a program before you have actully tried the program.. NEVER a good thing to do!

Good luck with this problem i hope it gets resolved soon! I really do!

I use Ad Blocker and, as I said in my post, I've been using Advanced System Care for at least 3 years and never had a problem.  I use the Pro version and don't mind paying for it (not that expensive) and it seemed to catch everything.  I run it up to 3x a day. i also clear my cache, cookies, and history at least 2x a day. I now understand that Ad Blocker is the reason most videos don't work for me, but I'm not about to turn it off.

I am getting my money back for the malware program that turned out to be a pain in my ykw because it took 15 minutes to restart my computer once the program ran and the first thing I did was check the same video and got the same message, so it didn't do a thing.

I have spent 3 solid days hoping for a end to this problem to no avail.

LOL um none of that stuff you mentioned is full proof and blocks everything. You got a virus for sure probably on a site you probably shouldn't of been on in the first place. Because you sure didn't get anything that's causing your issues off a ad off this site. None of the ads that go through fc carry extra hidden crap like some other sites ad on stuff to them.

I didn't say I got it off an AD from this site. I GOT IT OFF A VIDEO FROM THIS SITE. It was the first thing I did that morning besides doing the FC email.

I don't mean to be snippy about it, but you're being pretty nasty, or should I say you have a high and mighty attitude accusing me of not knowing where it came from or else you're not reading my first post correctly.  Then you say I probably got it from some place I shouldn't have been on in the first place????? What kind of site  are you accusing me of being on now? I think you're assuming too much and you don't need to bother answering this post because I only answer posters with attitudes like yours once.

It's not the first time, either. I posted a warning a couple months ago about one of the videos. Got that one taken care of pretty quick, but this one keeps coming back.

Lots of the videos don't work. I click them and Firefox tells me that I can't access the page and that the website is "incorrect." For the few videos that do load, the page asks me how old I am and female or male. Then it says that the content was restricted due to gender/age even though that video was about sneakers.  :confused1:

I have had loading errors with various videos, but if I come back to them on a different day or time then I usually have no problem at all. I would just try back and see what happens.

FINALLY - SUCCESS!!!!! I have been dealing with this virus for over a month. I got an answer from Chrome and downloaded the site they recommended. Just like all the suggestions here, it didn't catch that virus. I was really ready to call in the experts on that but decided to open the help on Windows.   ::)   :sad1:

They also had a malware program to try for free. I downloaded it and ran the scan. IT FOUND THE ADWARE malware!!!!!! To be sure, I came here and opened a video that would never open (the bv1media or whatever the most videos that post on here. It opened without the problem!!!!!! I started to do the happy dance, and opened a second bv1 video. Got the same adware message but it disappeared because this program keeps running in the background and it caught and "destroyed" the virus.

So I learned two things today. There is a program that can kill that virus and the virus did come from the videos.  ;D  ;D  ;)

The program is called Microsoft Security Essentials if anyone is interested.
