SCRABBLE
« on: May 17, 2014, 05:20:38 pm »
Who plays and enjoys Scrabble?  Now who is really good at it?  Now who plays and enjoys it and is really good at it? Well many people play, millions actually :o but what many people don't know is that there are clubs you can join and tournaments you can play in sponsored by NASPA (North American Scrabble Players Association)  :o I have been in a NASPA club and playing in tournaments for over 10 years   Want to know more just ask. :)

I like Scrabble.  We play it occasionally when the kids come home.  I didn't know there are clubs like the North American Scrabble Players Association that you mentioned.  That sounds like a more challenging level than I am up too.

There are casual clubs and competitive clubs and a mix of both.  Scrabble clubs are a great way to meet nice people and play a great game which keeps your brain and mind going.  I have met a lot of very nice people since I have been playing Scrabble,(Since 2004) some of my Scrabble friends have done more for me than some of my "regular" friends.  I have traveled to different parts of the country because of Scrabble. Places I never would of thought I would ever go to like Reno, NV for the Nationals. :)  I also know of a few people that have met and got married because of Scrabble  :o

I play Scrabble at PixiePit. I have played there for 5 years. I pay the $12 yearly subscription which is really worth it to have the full Scrabble board and word finder and many other players you can invite to play.

I HATE TO PLAY SCRABBLE ONLINE :bad:  I played on POGO and still play some on ISC, but because of POGO selling cheat programs, which people don't need to buy, and people using them online not just for Scrabble but for almost any game online, I don't play much online Scrabble or any other games too much anymore.  THERE IS NOTHING LIKE PLAYING THE ACTUAL GAME IN PERSON, against a live person you can see face to face and who can't use ANYTHING to cheat   I would love to see these cheats come up with their weirdo 7 and 8 letter words in an actual tournament ::) They COULDN'T, that is why they don't play in tournaments.  Most online games are ruined because of cheat programs,  :bad: people just are too lazy to use their brains.  Real Scrabble players like me actually study

ro901 you might want to think about joining a club if you can and look for a challenge and learn from real players.  Try searching NASPA Scrabble clubs in your area.

I used to play it when I was younger, but not so much now. I know a lot of people who play it hardcore though. Like for tournaments and who have the official "Scrabble" dictionary,  etc. Now they have that game "Words With Friends" which is basically a knock-off of Scrabble. But you can't beat the original!

I never played Scrabble because I could never spell very good and it takes a lot of spelling to do Scrabble so I avoided as much as possible.

Scrabble is an enjoyable game.  Lately, I am too busy to play and hope to catch up later.
